Hello All,

Today I finally broke down and picked up an irig so I can have better quality recordings with my iPad. So far I'm very happy with the setup.

All of these were with the guitar plugged directly into the amps, no pedals, no boost, no effects loop etc. I did not use the same riffs for each, nor the same cabinet for each. Each amp is dialed into my favorite settings for that particular amp and is mic'd on its own cabinet since that's what they were designed around. I did use the same guitar for all amps which is an all stock DeArmond S-67 7 string tuned down a half step.

These are just some quick throw together videos practicing recording with my new toys. No amazing virtuoso type riffs here. I'm just a hobby guitar player that mostly likes to jam on some downtuned heavy riffs. Now that I have some ok recording stuff I might be more inclined to actually come up with some cool riffs.

Uberschall

Krankenstein

Blue Voodoo

V3

Thanks I appreciate it. I'm definitely getting more motivated now that I can record with reasonable quality. I typically just play random stuff all the time, rarely focus on writing a riff or making a song.

Anyone have a positive experience with multi track apps for iPad? I've been checking out amplitude and it seems pretty cool so far, but not sure if I want to buy the 8 track recorder for it. The amp models are pretty cool.

Lots of people talk smack about the Crate Blue Voodoo, but I've always liked it. Oddly though this is the absolute best sounding Blue Voodoo Ive owned. I think the main difference is that this one has the Celestion cabinet, my other had the cheap speaker cabinets which don't sound good at all. Just wait until I plug the blue Voodoo into my Uberkab it sounds insane. I would say the blue voodoo can nearly hang with the other amps and it costs like 1/4 of the price. Consider that is in my room, not sure how it would compare in a live music situation turned way up. When I turn it way up here it still sounds damn good.

How do you like that Framus Cobra?mtheres one locally I was thinking about snagging. It doesn't come with its own cab though. If it's like the Uberschall or Krankenstein it will need its cab with greenbacks?mto sound its best

Why did you have to go and tell me that!? I have a bunch of v30's and have been having serious G.A.S. Lately lol it's even worse now that I picked up some stuff to get decent quality recordings. What would you say would be a good price(one to not pass up) on the Framus cobra head?

I would pm you but I don't think I'm allowed to yet

I like the V3 brutality. Nice clips!

Yeah after just modifying a couple easy things the V3 is a beast. I think I had the input gain turned up a little too high on the iRig interface on the V3, but you never know unless you try.

The signal chain goes:
DeArmond S-67 directly into the amps, shure sm57, iRig interface, ipad video recorder. No mixing or external effects at all. I did experiment with different mic placement on the amps and interface gain volumes. The mic on the Krankenstein was super close to the speaker since I removed the grille on the cab etc

I've listened to these videos on my ipad, android phone, surround sound, & computer with/without headphones and I didn't hear anything that sounded fizzy. Compressed maybe a little since my room is small with lots of stuff in it maybe?

I'll practice more and get better recordings coming up.

Same here. Super saturated, fizzy, and compressed.

All of the amps?

Try this one, sounds to me like the treble is a bit low. I would guess it's likely because my Jackson COW has only a volume knob.

Or this one, Duncan Live Wire Metal pickup

I have no ability to listen to what the mic is picking up live, so I have to record, watch the video, move the mic, record, watch the video etc to try different sound captures, kind of a pain. I'm thinking maybe a different interface?
