Saw this last week in Toronto, man what a marathon, he played for about 3 hours, with a 20 min intermission. Not only that, if you had a VIP ticket they did a private pre-show of some his Metamorphosis/Vivaldi classical stuff.
He played a lot of Electric Sun tunes, a Scorpions Tokyo Tapes set, Sky of Avalon, Hendrix All Along the Watchtower... at one point he even broke out an 8 string acoustic Sky guitar and played Bohemian Rhapsody and other excerpts. He brought out the very first guitar he played on his first gig back in 1968 and played a song he played that night, Apache, from the band The Shadows. He even played a song written by his brother Zeno who passed away last year. He used the same hand-wired plexi-type Blackstar head he's been using for years, and then all his crazy Sky guitars. The main Sky guitar he played was a 7 string that had this glowing dragons egg below the bridge that kept changing colors all the time and his fretboard side markers all light up too, At least 10 knobs and several switches on that thing!
Have to say I don't think it was as good as some of the other shows I've seen him do the last few years, only because of the show length and the number of deep cuts he did. He also didn't do Fly to the Rainbow this time
But it was definitely an experience seeing a guy this age out doing what he loves on stage all night.
