dude is the king of king's imho.

he did all of the scorps stuff and the first solo lp's with the same super lead tremolo which he claims is really loud-pushing 140 watts.

in the past decade he has kept the marshall at home and toured with blackstar and framus......
2 amp brands most guys on here would consider "B" grade and generally lackluster or "uncool" [i realize there are exceptions and some dudes love framus amps]

anyway i reckon in the end amp gas/fetishization is seemingly unimportant to the world's best rock guitarist,
uli has put the major attention on his sky guitars which are the most important thing for him and it seems that amps are secondary in his concerns.

my favorite uli moment is on the tokyo tapes album--we'll burn the sky
he seemed to be in the zone on that one
sails of charon and catch your train are classics too but WBTS has all the rock ducks in a row for me. channeling hendrix, leaving vocals to klaus :D

marc ford played at our church a few years ago and the solos he did on this particular song reminded me of the spirit of uli's solos, and just classic old heroic guitar player's solo of years gone by.

i was listening to it in my car driving through montana/idaho yesterday and it was just perfect for my early morning trip

it's a live board mix i ran that day, so the snare/cymbals, and keys are lacking level versus a dedicated mix for recording, and i wish the media guy focused on marc more while he played! i took the liberty of pouring on generous amounts of delay from the FOH rack using an M2000, some lexicon pcm 91 reverb, and the really neat part for me was he was using an old vox italian wah modded my teese that i eneded up giving him as a gift, after playing so beautifully with it. he really seemed to connect with it.

Back in 2004 I had the good fortune of getting to watch uli sound check at 3rd encore
for about 4 hours (the night before his hob shows).

He was playing 3 amps at the time. He had his marshall super lead tremelo, a vox ac30
for cleans and something that he called his "sky amp" which I never did figure out what
it was.

I still think back to that night with regard to how much of a gentleman Uli was. Definitely
a good cat. (and he's still God on guitar...)

Whatever amp... if it's makes you get into it and play..then do it.

Also, Thanks for posting the Marc Ford video. Very cool!
