Sorry guys someone suggested a 395 strategy to me anyone try this?

id take a 395 over a 2:90 anyday - but only if you dont mind the weight.

the 395 and 400 are some of the best mesa poweramps made i think. the 395 has MIDI capabilities to switch between each channel like an Rt2/50 and is much more versatile - killer amplifier.

i think the 395 is all class A though? i dont remember if it is class A/B.

ITS SIMUL CLASS™ POWER iF That helps. You think even without the modern thang built in like the 2:90 the triaxis with the strategy 395 will be heavy tight low end?

Never tried the 395, but I prefer 2:90 over the 400 for a guitar rig. Ran mine (2:90) with both an MP-1 and a Triaxis...awesome power amp that responds much more like a real amp than the 400. The 400 was cool but was much more sterile sounding IMO...probably why audiophiles started using them in their systems.

Play both if you can and decide from there.

The Triaxis is designed to work with the 2:90

i had the triaxis and 395 and had the 290 at my house to A/B the power amps.

i really liked the 395 more, especially having switchtrack linked to the triaxis switching jacks for clean versus dirty power amp presence settings. i wasn't as taken by class A mode

Marshall 2100 ;) EL-34's with a ton of headroom. Used a triaxis with one for 4 years, you can switch the voicing options on the Marshall with the Triaxis, stays tight, great tone, will shave heads

I had a tri. w/ a boogie 2 90 2..Thought that was pretty cool sounding...Then someone in a studio turned me onto a simul 295--that was better yet, then,,,I got a chance to play thru the 395 and 500...Let me tell you, if you want the richest, most brutal, tightest representation of the tri, run it into a 395, 500, or vht 2150, or classic..nothing wrong w/ the simul 2-90-2(the tri can switch settings on it)...But to my ears, those latter 4 power amps have no need for those (settings on the 2-902)... :)

Thanks man luckly I have someone willing to sell me a 395 and i can try it out so im going to do so. Ill let you know how it works out. Thanks again. I just got a triaxis on ebay 2.0 no fat mod with recto board so im gonna use that in a nice metal rig im putting togetther with another head.
