Dude, no offense, but why would you think being LE would give anyone insight into what the courts, Congress and SCOTUS are going to do ?Well, there are some changes coming starting in January 2026, I’m not sure about what’s stated in the video, but the 200.00 dollar tax for suppressor’s will be removed, and other tax removals are being considered for Class 3 items also. You still have to go through the background check and fill out the Form 4 paperwork and go through the wait period but that is down to 4-6 weeks at the moment.
Potentially less if you have gone through it before and run the info through one of the kiosk’s that most places are running now.
An LE buddy of mine has told me there will likely be some of the changes stated in the video but wether or not that has happened yet I honestly don’t know.
There will be an initial onslaught of purchases on suppressors in January due to the tax being dropped so I would imagine wait times will go back up for a bit due to that change.
I’ll send him that video and see what he says
He’s a good friend of mine who shoots with us regularly, we talk about that stuff all the time. He’s not telling me anything that there is a reason not to for him legally, and he’s much more up on current changes to the laws than I usually am, why is that a surprise?Dude, no offense, but why would you think being LE would give anyone insight into what the courts, Congress and SCOTUS are going to do ?
Because being LEO doesn't give him any insight into future acts of congress or how SCOTUS will rule or what cases they will agree to hear. Essentially it's the same info anyone who keeps up on current gun news has. If it were otherwise brother, I'd be set. I have more LE friends than I can count and I'm related to 3 different FBI agents. He’s a good friend of mine who shoots with us regularly, we talk about that stuff all the time. That’s what I was curious about, the video states that stuff has already passed, so I figured if it had he would know something to that affect. I wasn’t implying he had any knowledge beyond that and certainly not any about what stuff could be on the horizon regarding legislation. As an aside, he is likely correct that some of those things may be addressed ( outcome unknown). Also a lot of those things are already the law in some free states. Mine for example.
Now don't take this to mean I am applying it to your buddy bro because I am actually applying it to some of my buddies. Who happen to be street cops. They are among the least knowledgable people I know with regards to laws of any kind. Of course some of the things some of these guys I'm talking about have done include getting hammered and letting another buddy of mine ( also hammered and NOT a cop) drive the cruiser around with the lights flashing and sirens on, eventually getting pulled over by a cop in an adjacent jurisdiction and of course being sent on his way back to the jurisdiction he came from no worse for wear. Another idiot I know was "Practicing his draw" and shot himself in the leg with his Glock. Another "Acquaintance" of mine who moved to the city specifically to be a cop there because "That's where the action is", is almost completely ignorant of federal gun laws. I've had to rearrange more than one of his guns to keep him out of trouble. What a dipshit. He wants to go swat, but I'm not sure he's gonna make it. lolThat’s what I was curious about, the video states that stuff has already passed, so I figured if it had he would know something to that affect. I guess I was thinking that because a lot of what we see turns out to be bs, but he has never once told me anything that turned out to be bs when it comes to gun laws.
I guess I should have said passed and current gun laws![]()
He was a street cop for a bit, he’s a senior level guy in the dept now, he’s in charge of the tactical training amongst other things. Now don't take this to mean I am applying it to your buddy bro because I am actually applying it to some of my buddies. Some of the cops I train with actually ARE "Jump out boys"/ swat and while I don't hang with them on a personal level and can't tell you what kind of dumb shit they do or don't do, I can tell you none of them would shoot themselves in the leg practicing their draw.
I have little doubt my FBI agent relatives have a pretty good grasp on the law, but I can't swear to it because I generally avoid them. They are the most arrogant, self serving pieces of shit I know. Typical "Above the law" blowhards who I have no doubt would abuse their power if it suited them.
Anyway, on a non related sidebar, you would be amazed at the percentage of cops who can't shoot for shit and have almost no realistically applicable tactical preparedness.
