Use Herbert for Bass Guitar Recording

Hi all,
we will record our second album at home and since our bass player doesnt have a good amp,
we want to use my Herbert to record the bass guitar.

Does it make sense to mic the cab or is the Compensated line out easier to use? Should we use a compressor? Anything about the EQ?

All tipps are greately appreciated =)

Bass direct into the mic pre should be better IMO.

If the bass is active, you can try to plug into the serial return though - but I would def. use a bass cab with the amp then.
