I think the compressed sounds better on the low end. Seemed to tighten it up a bit and remove any 'boomy' muddy stuff.

What i heard in both clips i thought needed tweaking was the top end. Although, in a two guitar setting or a multi track setting i can hear this being as is. But I think james has more top end, to it. I wouldnt adjust the treble/presence though.

I'm not familiar with the Engl SE, so dont know the tone controls, but I would maybe add a parametric EQ, and boost something around the 4k range, just to add that bite on the top end. I remember reading an article in a useless guitar mag from years ago that there is a certain frequency that is 'very present' in james' sound. I never really researched it at the time but it was around the time after reload came out.

I really like the thickness of the tone and think its pretty close, just needs a bit more bite, that i'm not sure just the treble/presence would do.
