Have it narrowed down but I can't decide. I'm leaning towards the Carvin because it just looks more appealing and I'd expect close the same quality than the ESP.

Would be the LTD series like M-1000 or an LTD Elite MII vs Carvin DC600 or ST300. I've never played either, they both seem to have similar qualities, the Carvin looks better to me but the ESP may be a little cheaper.

Edit: weird vibes from the Carvin seller so it looks like I may end up with an ESP.

Which ESP? M-1000 or LTD Elite MII?

Carvins are built and play like much more expensive custom guitars.

youll most likely be able to unload the carvin pretty easy if you don't like it. I'd grab the carvin... LTDs are a dime a dozen and always available.

Carvin's used values are terrible. If he's buying one new, he's not going to like trying to sell it.

No I found a good deal on an ST300 but the neck is questionable. I made another thread titled does this neck look warped to you?

I would get the Carvin without a doubt but the seller doesn't seem to be very communicative from the jump and when I asked about the neck and for more pics I got no reply. That's a real bummer but I'm not taking any chances with these sellers out there so I guess I am SOL.

I won't get a Carvin model that I want for my Price range so I'm renaming this thread to ESP M-1000 or LTD Elite M2?

LTDs are not ESP, but I've played some nice LTDs. And as Cardinal said, the Carvin is next to worthless on the used market. The LTD would definitely be easier to move and easier to find a nice used one on the cheap

Well the LTD Elite were made in the Japan Factory by the same Luthiers but with cheaper
Parts I think. So I'm leaning towards that.

My budget is not going to get me a custom ESP unfortunately. Regarding the KM I dont think its for me.

I've never played a schecter I like, to fat of a neck/small radius although I've never played the KM it looks pretty boring to me, no offense.

I will say every schecter I've played sounded amazing. I just can't jive with their necks.

I would go with one of the LTDs. I ordered 2 Carvins last year, and I no longer have either. I found that while they look and play incredibly well, they do not sound as good as they look. Something seems to be missing. They feel and sound sorta dead. I have a theory that this may be due to the neck through construction, but I can't confirm that yet. They just do not resonate the way I want a guitar to resonate.

I traded one for a Gibson Gothic V, which is by far the best guitar I have ever played. I traded the other for an AR15 lol.

After getting rid of the Carvins (DC600 and SCB6), I bought an LTD MH400NT...this is a 10 year old guitar that goes for around $300-$350. It plays like any LTD/ESP, assuming you get a setup and fretwork, and sounds and resonates miles better than either of my Carvins. Its such a great guitar that I bought an H400 built the same year, for $350.

If you are looking at LTDs, keep in mind that the LTD Elite series is what replaced the ESP Standard series. Made in the same place on the same machines as the ESP Standards, thus the high price. If you want a "regular" LTD, I would definitely shoot for one of the older Korean models. Those are some killer guitars, and are really hard to compete with for what they sell for used. I think most of the 1000 series are Korean made.

Why do so many LTD owners refer to their guitar as an ESP? You don't see people refer to Squires as Fenders or Epiphones as Gibsons or Edwards as ESPs. I don't get it. It's a pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, I mean it said Fender Squier on the headstock. I guess that wouldn't apply to ESP LTD's though but they do say ESP on the back of the headstock.

They are made by ESP and Fender I think but I get what you're saying. I would never call an Epiphone LP a "Les Paul".

Carvin resale values are way better than they used to be. Tell me what gear is selling well these days anyway.
