Hey guys.... can/would anyone share some tips using their BE100 rig live? my first gig last night really went bad!

What went bad? Mic'd tone was not good...tried serval settings?
Feedback... the bad kind.... the kind that If I was not hitting the strings.... volume pedal or knob had to be off
Drummer Drowned me out bad (running into a Friedman 2x12 cab)
Tone was lost in the mix (mid knob was a 6, gain was at 5)

LOVE this amp, in the studio.... please help me love it live! and for the record.... (if you can't tell) I'm old guy. but new at Gigging live :)

Thanks!!!!

I'm kind of confused... I take my BE from the studio to rehearsal to the stage with very little tweaking and it sounds killer all across the board. My amp never gets lost in the mix so something sounds fishy.

So in order to help, what's your signal chain and settings? What kind of music and what other instruments are you competing against?

same here, my friedman cuts through better than my other marshalls and evh's do and I would have to dime the mids and drop the bass with the marshalls. I do nothing with the friedman and I can hear myself better than ever

That is why I'm asking for help.... I'm not doing something right that is for sure :)

If you run straight into the amp do you have the same problems? If so it's probably tube related.

Could be a plethora of problems and not related to the amp. To help you solve the issue (which is what you want). As much information as possible is needed.

Which version of the BE do you have (date code)?
What are your settings on the amp on stage?
What cabinet and speakers were you using?
Did you have the cabinet facing out toward the crowd or turned around and miced?
What were the approximate dimensions of the room you played at?
Are your tubes good - maybe one is going bad and giving you guff?
What type of feedback? any clips??

Need more information....

Sounds like a bad preamp tube to me. If you have a new one swap them out one by one with the new one. If not try swapping positions of the tubes that are in there one by one and see if the feedback goes away.

Which version of the BE do you have (date code)? don't know where that is but here is the Serial # BE100H-02140105
What are your settings on the amp on stage? BACK> Fat-Off, C45-On, Sat-On (tried on and off) Loop- On, loop sw On, Return Level 4 FRONT >Pres-5, Bass-4.5, Mid- 6, Treble-6, Master- 5, Gain-4.5, Clean Vol- 4.25, Treble- 6, Bass-4 .... Voice sw- on, Bright- on, CLN-BE-HBE middle position but FT SW is being used!
What cabinet and speakers were you using? Friedman 2x12 ext cab
Did you have the cabinet facing out toward the crowd or turned around and miced? facing out to the me/crowd (knew level)
What were the approximate dimensions of the room you played at? we were at a "corner" shooting out 50'x50'
Are your tubes good - maybe one is going bad and giving you guff? I really don't think it is a tube problem they are not old at all and soound amazing in the studio
What type of feedback? any clips? don't have any yet.?

I'm very new at this... but I'm thinking it is a frequency issue? that is why I'm thinking at adjusting settings? also... that was a great question, about the cab ....at one of the breaks I should have turned the cab around to the wall... I will try that for sure 2 weeks!!

Tubes don't have to wear out to go bad. They can last 10 yrs or a day. Try what I said and report back.

Usually a Shure SM57, first thing I would of done is turn of off the loop and see how it sounded with the FX8 bypassed.
Feedback, noise? FX8 has a noise gate you should be able to control any noise if its not tube related.

just to be clear.... the feedback I'm talking about is.... for an example.... turn your amp up loud.... stand with in 2' of it with hot pick up with the gain up around 4-6 send let go of your strings! ... that make sense?

This amp is amazing just looking for tips on how to better gig with it!!! :) this first round was rough lol

Im defiantly trying turning the cab around to face the wall and mic it.... dang... I wish I would have thought about that one...errrrr

Any reason you have the C45 & SAT switches on? SAT is mostly for when playing at low volume - try switching them off, running the loop around 5-7 & then use your front panel levels as the master.

@flash6969 ..... I really think you right and the only other thing I'm going to try also is... I'm going to turn the cab around to the wall... Mic'd

So when you don't use sat live in can see the volume increase, I want to try that..I am curious to see if some squish is gone too

So it is more lively for you with sat off? Does your cab face away from you live? I am thinking the sat switch compresses ..if cranked maybe it's not really doing anything but holding it back...and I will need to.lose the fat switch live too you say?

Ok,so I played a set without the sat engaged..I am hooked on the modern vibe, however it was raw..I did feel I missed some grit...smoother and in your face..but the top end crunch is what hooked me on this piece of nostalgia
