Just bought a used Port City Vertical OS 212.
It had some Fender/Eminence speakers in it that I'm not gonna use.
Anyone use V30/H75 mix in a vertical 212?
I'm thinking about putting the V30 on the bottom and H75 on top...the Friedman idea of keeping the V30 lower than ear level.
Anyone try this both ways?
I'll probably experiment both ways, plus I have some Lynchbacks that I need to try out too.
Just looking for a good starting point. Thanks!

I have an old Carvin vertical 2x12 with a V30 and CL80 and love it. Always liked that combo. It’s been my main cab with various amps for a few years now. I see you play a Shiva, that’s been my main amp for the past 2 years.

I mix it up here and there, but always go back to the Shiva.
How do you have those speakers arranged?
Today I tried V30 bottom/H75 top, V30 bottom/Lynchback top, V30 bottom/G12-60 top, and V30 bottom/V30 top.
I think I'm favoring the V30 on bottom and top.
I never got around to trying H75 bottom/V30 top.

I put the CL80 on the bottom since it has a little more low frequency. I wanted to transfer that to the floor and accentuate it in an attempt to get closer to the lows a 4x12 puts out. Haven’t tried the v30 on the bottom....yet, lol.

i have an orange 4x12 with top H75s and bottom V30s.
It's really great, the H75 brings down the in your face mid spike harshness.

Even live i then prefer to put the mic on the top two speakers. I also remember that the guys from periphery used to do this in their cabs, just FYI that it's not just us regular folks :). And the new peavey invective cabs are similar in this fashion i guess.

I'm gonna stick with 2 V30's for now. I think it will mix better at band practice this week.
What I noticed...with both V30's it sounds more open. The cab itself adds a nice thump when tightening up my picking.
With the V30 on bottom and H75 on top, it sounded more focused, slightly tighter, a bit more low end, with a hint of the greenback kinda feel on the top end...slightly more articulate.
And it does reduce some high end harshness. None of these speakers are really broken in yet though.

I'm using a G12-65 Heritage top/Mesa V30 bottom (with beamblocker) in my Mesa 2x12 vertical. Sounds awesome.
Nothing too strident on ear-height (I place it on empty flightcases usually for gigs) this way.
