I know the V30 x G12T75 is a proven combination, but it seems the V30 x GK100 has been starting to gain some credibility. What are the differences between these speaker combinations?

I've done the following mixes:

V30 x G12T75
CL80 x G12T75
K100 x V30
K100 x G12T75
K100 x CL80

The winners were CL80 x G12T75, V30 x G12T75, and K100s by themselves. I'm a big fan of K100s...and they have a fair amount of mid-range (not approaching a V30 though). So when mixing speakers, I try to match speakers that will accentuate what the other speakers are missing. Like matching a G12T75...it's missing some upper mid-range....The CL80 and V30 fit that bill rather well. The K100s are really good across all of the frequency band, which for me made it really difficult to find a speaker that would "fit" into the K100's frequency band to fill a hole. If you are a V30 guy, then probably the best to match a K100 would be a V30. It will bump up that upper mid frequency a bit.

I really liked CL80s and G12T75s mixed. The CL80's low mids and girth really fit into the "frequency hole" of the G12T75. Secondly the V30s did the same, but I'm not a huge V30 fan...so I preferred the CL80.

Jag From I Mother Earth Used this combination for years.

Very warm and mid rangey tone

in the cab i use i choose the 75s due to less bottem end
as the cab i have is very low end punchy...

the K100s work REALLY REALLY REALLY well with the CL80s

I think that I need to try something like a V30 or K100 with my Warehouse 80's. I have them mixed with Emi V12's (which are kind of dark also) and while I like darker tones, I have been struggling with my tone being too dark.
