I'm considering buying some V30's to put in an X-pattern with my G12H30's that are loaded in my Marshall 1960BHW Cab. how do the V30's help or hurt in this case? I'm playing through a Slash Jubilee 2555SL

The perfect combo in my opinion!! Great cut with the V30's and mixed with the darker but thicker H30's you can't go wrong.

That combination yields a pretty hi-fi sound. Very complimentary.

I wasn't a fan of these speakers paired...they just sounded really thin and weak in my 412. I swapped the H30s for eminence legend V12s, and now I get the cut and grind of the V30 (I dont really like V30s to begin with, either) and the balls and clarity of the V12s.

Would anyone choose G12H75 Creambacks over G12H30's?

I've never tried either and keep reading about how nice the G12H30's are but I'd like something w/ more power hence the H75's.

Thoughts/experience?

I figured I'd jump in on this thread rather than starting another one.

I just loaded my cab with G12H30/V30's and it is so balanced. Perfect blend of highs and lows and it's not too bright/dark. Great middle of road set-up with awesome definition and cut.

Go with a Heritage H30 75 hz and a 55 hz mix. The newer Heritages have gotten rid of the solder tabs so they are regular connectors.

I'm not going to try and breakdown why that combination works so well because I'm not sure I can. But I will say that the best speaker combination I have ever tried is 2 V30s and 2 G12H30s in an x pattern. Sounds really great with a wide range of amps.

It's a common match up. But it's ultimately up to your ears.

Keep in mind the Marshall vintage speakers sound different than regular Chinese made celestion v30s. I think the key question to ask is, what don't you like about the sound today?

Anni G12H30s are known for a nice bass respond, solid mids and chimey highs and taking a long time to break in. With some amps they will sound harsh on the high end, particularly till broken in.

Its well known they suck until they break in. If one installs them new they cannot judge until some hours are put on them. I don't know of anyone that installed these new and said Wow. Wow, these sound like shit maybe

I have the G12H30 heritage edition. I think they are a tad dark, keep in mind I play punk stuff like terror and madball or agnostic front. I tune down to D standard, I guess one of the things I'm looking for is to get some more warmth from my rig. The warmth issue may have to do with the fact I use EMG's, which is why I'm also looking into switching to either passives or trying the EMG 57/66 combo.

I want to get a second 212 with H30s to stack on my V30 212 cab...

Plus it'll be funny to have my little dual terror sitting on top of two cabs. 30 watts of doom!

If anyone is interested I have a pair of V30's I will sell. I pulled them out of a Mesa Recto 2x12 that was from the mid 90's. The speaker are broken in and sound great. They have that little vent on the back. They don't have any labels on them but they're V30's and this takes the guess work out of which "good sounding" V30 to get. Just PM me if anyone wants them or needs pics and price.

I'm loving the h30s in my evh 212. They are a bit harsh like vintage 30s but the cab is brand new. To me the h30s are a nice Greenback flavored speaker with a little bit of the high mid cut off a v30. More low end than a v30 too.

That's what i noticed too...i was told they can sound a little choked until they break in, maybe mine aren't broken in yet.

V30'S and anniversary g12h30's. That is the best combo to my ears. I like the scumback name, sounds cool, but when i heard them in person, I was not liking them one bit. They sound very fatigued, and worn out IMO.

^^quoted for truth. Eminence V12s are the speakers that Celestion wishes the Vin 30 is.
