I bought this guitar new 3 or so years ago. It plays very well, great action, sustain, love the neck and fret board. I enjoy playing the guitar... as long as it's unplugged. The pickups, no matter what height adjustment, just sound too.... :dunno: sterile.. might be a good description. Seems it's missing good, solid crunch. Does a great BOWWWWWNNNG sound, (which I don't like). Thats about it.. Anybody have one of these and like the stock pups? If so what are you recommendations for a more lively tone? If you've replaced the pups, what did you use, and why? Thanks in advance!

Nobody else has an Ibanez Prestige 7 string with these pups? :dunno:

Replaced the v77 and v87 in my 2127z with Pegasus/Sentient. Really dig it. SH5 is another solid bet.

Im really happy with my Pegasus/Sentinent. The bridge is real clear sounding but gets a good amount of distortion. They have a ceramic for the bridge called a Nazgul as well. I played EMG's forever before that..

Thanks the recommendation bros.. I checked them out and listened to the sound clips (Pegasus/Sentient, Nazgul, and SH5). The V77/87 seem more... polite. I play thrash/groove and was looking for more of a.. middle finger and spit in your face tone from my guitar. The basswood body seems to be part of the factor, because my maple 6 stringers have no problem getting that tone, with the same amp/cab setup. I think I'll try the Pegasus first. Thanks!
