ha! about 25 years too late! i expect dropped tunings and vocal punch ins all the way through this

Van Halen put out a live album in '93. "Right Here Right Now"

If Dave doesn't blow a song or 4 and say "I don't get paid to remember the lyrics!" I'll be extremely disappointed.

Was hoping for a DVD and then remembered that it's not 1984 any more LOL

Friend told me they booked MSG in September. No idea if it's true.

Van halen album covers just never get any better do they   ... might be worth checking out though

The problem with live is that they no longer are. Even Kiss Alive was altered back in the day...kinda sucks.

Hopefully they will keep it raw.
It would be neat for them to capture the party more than just playing songs that sound like the album.

they are gonna have to work some magic to make Roth's voice seem on key. His voice is sooo far gone. Ill check it out though.

They are just awful live now...its a joke. Roth sucks and is an embarrassment. At least Eddie hasn't fallen as far down as jimmy Page, but he is not what he was!

Yeah none of these live albums were/are ever 100% live from such and such a show. As a kid Tribute was my bible. Randy sounds amazing on that! Then I realized and read that they just cut diff parts of his performances to make the leads on that album and that is why they are so incredible. Not that he didn't play incredibly every night but they wanted to capture the ultimate performance. If you listen back to some of the real live bootlegs, you can hear some signature parts from certain leads that you know were borrowed to make up some of that album. They all do it. Touch ups. Makes me wonder if UFO's Strangers in the Night is also victim of some of this editing.

EDIT: so apparently most of Tribute is from this show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYHkePWfvRk

Guitar sounds about right but Ozzy sounds worse than he does on Tribute so they probably patched in a diff performance from him on some of these tunes. Randy also makes a mistake at the beginning of the Crazy solo which is def not there on Tribute so definitely some polishing.

Roth may suck, but hell man, I wouldn't go see VH these days without him.

Money grab! They suck live and they know it. Put out a live album where they have total control of the finished product, sell it to the fans, get paid one last time, thank you good night, this is the end of VH.

I saw them on the last tour. Roth isnt great (he never was), but the band was stellar.

If they wanna release a Roth live thing, why not the pro shot vid and pro recorded stuff they have from the early eighties when they were in their prime?

Steve

^^^^^^^This...I saw the last tour and Roth sucked, really sucked. Band and Eddie were good but man, really had a problem watching Roth. Changing the phrasing and trying to hit notes higher than the original recording not to mention looking like a dorkier Niles Crane...give me the 80's still on fire stuff any day. The dude can not sing anymore ...period.
