So I am thinking of starting a solid state rack rig I hear great things about the velocity 300 I found an older one for 299$. It is the older 2 space version I have heard that these are supposedly made in the US and the newer ones are made over seas? What should I watch out for what might be wrong with it? I know nothing so I am trying to educate myself I am also curious about cabs and modeler units I am staying away from Kemper fractal and the 11 rack unless its a really nice deal. But I would rather buy and older amp modeler to learn the ins and outs of having a rig like this then add the nicer modeler later. Will just any cab do or are there certain ones that respond better then others to a solid state unit. I have had a Line 6 spider 2 150 watt forever great amp but too loud and low quality on tones IMHO so I am looking for better but not super quality stuff and possibly use it with the mark V like a wet dry rig.

I'm not sure what to watch on the older one's. I bought a new 1 space Velocity 300 and it's been awesome. Rocktron makes good products and they have the best customer support I've ever used. I think the 2 space one was some kind of tour edition with extra fans, etc.

I use a Rocktron Voodu Valve in my midi rig (Voodu Valve>BBE 461 Sonic Maximizer>Rocktron Velocity 300) and I really love the Voodu Valve, it's not a modeller, but is so flexible you can get almost any sound out of it. It has 3 band fully parametric EQ's pre and post distortion and the effects sound good. It also doesn't hurt that Rocktron has been building the thing for 20 years with only one revision AFAIK.

I've got the 150 version fs.
Great sounding poweramps

I used to run an 11R into an older 2-space Velocity 300, into a Marshall 1960B 4x12. It sounded pretty awesome. The 300 was a BEAST.

Btw... I also ran my Vox Tonelab LE into this rig and it sounded great as well. I still have the TL and highly recommend it for budget modelers that sound great.

How old is that version of the velocity 300 are they durable if,I ever gig?

I also had an older 2-space Velocity 300. The tone was superb, and never had any issues. It could get just as ballsy and thick as just about any tube power amp. Definitely an underrated unit that I would recommend.

The newer Velocity has volume, and two other knobs *presence and dynamics* I think. Thing sounds awesome I think. I had one for a week, LOL. Then decided to go the tube head route. Not because of the tone, because I'm a freak. But I was impressed with the tone of the thing. They dynamics knob added a tube warmth type of sound to the tone. Highly recommended.

I dunno man. I got it in well-used condition at the local pawn shop. Had a blown fuse, but once I replaced that it was gold. Never hiccuped on me and as others have said... sounded VERY tube-like. In fact... a friend brought his VHT 2:50:2 for me to try running the 11R into and I preferred the Velocity BY FAR. I still think that all-tube amps rule... but if I was going the modeler route again... I'd grab another Velocity for sure!

Guys, thank you so much for the input I am gonna see if its there tommorrow

Ok so now I can get either versions for 300 is there a difference between them?

Hey just bumping this through wanted to know if there is a preference between the older 2 spaced velocity 300 newer 1 space Velocity 300?
