Im looking for versatille 7 string pickup that sounds good splited and covers a lot of ground from DREAMTHEAR to GUTHRIE GOVAN

I found the d-sonic 7 to be pretty versatile. It was plenty potent for metal but dials back nicely too. I'm not sure about it covering Govan, I don't know much of his work.

I have a crunchlab in my guitar and i like the pickup the only thing is that sound  splitted.

The crunchlab and original drop sonic are different tones. Someone here clarified it before, but they're aren't the same.

Check with Seymour Duncan, most of their pups are available in 7 string formats.

I think the EVO7 is well balanced and sounds great while split.

I haven't tried any of the BKPs, but I've heard nothing but great things about them and I'm dying to try some.

I really like the cl but splitted sounds harsh. Is there another pickup that sounds similar? If i lower the pickup would sound better,i haven't done this because it's too tall and i have to modify the guitar lower the pickup! :scared: How does the nailbomb sounds.

My favorite are the Dimarzio Blaze 7 pickups--they sound AWESOME--I've heard they're the equivalent of the Steve's Special, but I have the Blaze 7 in the neck of my 7-string and it's one of my favorite neck pickups, 6 or 7-string.

Cheers,

had one in my Carvin DC727, incredibly versatile, sounds great split, singing lead tone, nice
punchy rhythm. Not the tightest bridge pickup but plenty tight enough for most styles.
Had a coldsweat in the neck, a great pickup combination.

i like the Duncan Custom 7. i've run it in several different 7s, including a mahogany Ibanez S clone i built. it has nice crunch but isn't over the top high output; enough output that it splits nicely. a great all-around pickup. i've customized mine with Alnico 5 or Alnico 8 magnets, and i like it even better with the A8.

i have six maybe seven 7-strings, so i've tried pretty much all the 7-string pickups out there. the Blazes sound a little flat to me, very balanced but maybe too balanced for me. the Evo7 did sound great when split, because its coils are pretty high output and so are closer to the impedance of real single-coils, but as a humbucker it sounded sharp and too hot to me, and i like high-gain tones like DT. the Crunch Lab i tried and it didn't click for me, but damned if i can remember exactly why. :) the Nailbomb i tried was cool but not better than my Custom A8; just a bit different. the Duncan JB sounds honky to me--i think they wind them a lot hotter than they did back in the 80s.

the Full Shred i'm dying to try, and i have a couple Anderson 7 humbuckers that have been gathering dust for too long.

one to probably avoid is the Tone Zone 7. unless the guitar is a really bright body wood, like maple, the TZ7 can sound muddy and undefined.

I used to have tone zone and thas why i got rid of it it sounded muddy
