Happy Thanksgiving guys! I’m gonna order a vertical 2x12 cab tomorrow online. The 3 top of my list are the Soldano and Mesa. The Badcat also but it’s a 3x12 not sure if that makes sense to cut down on weight from a 4x12 but still an option. One of the biggest difference with the Soldano compared to Mesa is that tthe speakers are offset not directly one above the other in line. Some say that’s a better layout for a 2x12 , I don’t know. Any last minute thoughts , suggestions?
If you go Bad Cat there is a sale or a nice discount on open box too.

A lot of the 212s are on sale too and they are a bit bigger than your standard 212s...... Come with Bad Cat Vintage 30 212 8ohm speakers undoped proprietary speakers wired in series for 16ohms or factory Celestion Vintage 30 212 16ohm speakers wired in parallel for 8ohms. On sale too and either way a lot of value with either :dunno:

P.S. you can double dip with the BLACKFRIDAY promo too and get a discount on top of the already discounted price at Musicians Friend if you want to go through them or have someone price match......

The Mesa Mark Vert 2x12 (metal grill) is the boss for me. Same formula as my favorite Mesa 4x12, open top half and sealed bottom.

A HUGE sounding 2x12 that takes tons of power with the right speakers. Very heavy for what is is, but if you want big balls projection and don't want 4x12....,,

I've got one of these, and I think it's great. Wider than a lot of 2x12s, and I think that accounts for what it sounds more full like a 4x12:

I also still have one of the old ADA Split Stack 2x12 cabs. I replaced the furry Ozite covering with tolex and threw in some Celestion V-Types, and it's probably my favorite 2x12 that I've owned. I thought the original 50w Celestions they came with sounded great for Marshall-style amps.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up ordering the Friedman vertical closed back and the Mesa split back. Will report back on how they sound. Will prob not keep both. The half open back thing is interesting and worth a shot but I don’t have high expectations. I play mostly metal and hard rock stuff, most seem to say it’s not ideal for a focused sound. Though I remember many years back I was at a rehearsal studio that had a Mesa 4x12 half back that did sound great. It was a long time ago but always thought I needed to try one with my own stuff at some point.

Hard to go wrong with either man and good picks.
