So Frank Lamara from Egnater got together with Gene Baker to make a line of guitars. Ty Tabor of Kings X is playing them. The guitar is a perfect cross between a Tele,Strat and Les Paul and are called LA custom guitars.

It has a mahogany body with maple cap and it is a set neck with a 12" radius and is Gibson scale. The back of the guitar is satin clear along with the neck. The neck wood is maple with rosewood. The guitar comes with various Motor City pickups and man does it sound good. If anyone is interested Tone Merchants has a sample at the moment. Check it out.

Man that does sound like a great design, a heavy sounding guitar without the outdated LP body.

Would love to try one

I'd rock one of those for sure. I'd love to have one of those in vintage white.

Does look cool, but a tele body is equally outdated, if not more so.

I have been looking for a Tele for my collection but I think I will just go with a fender. I like custom guitars but after PRS and playing a Ibanez Jem with a thin lightning fast neck and for around $2000.Gibson is becoming expensive out of the major competitors like fender, Ibanez and Rickenbacker.Does it make it better because it cost a lot more? Would you sell more and make more money if they were more affordable ? I understand PRS costing more for some of there guitars when they use rare woods that you can no longer get unless a tree falls in the rain forest and they are the winning bidder on it. I like the 5 blade switch in the upper position, I think that is a cool feature. Do they have a model with HSH or other pickup configurations? Are they going to be available in local music stores? And what are some other special features that would guide me towards buying one?

First off since you are an Eggy user..it will make your stuff even better. We worked on it with our gear and the tones you get from it are unreal. The pickups with the body, the bridge, the tuners etc all just flat out rock! Hangs just right and the neck is so easy to play. One of the ones in the booth was mine and I had to sell it cause a guy wanted it so bad, Frank asked me to give it back! I can't say who but 3 major players used the one in our booth and flipped out playing it!

I would luv to try it and dont get me wrong im not knocking it. Are they going to be available in stores like in Guitar Center? Finishes? Neck choices? Inlays?

Insane price. I dunno what you people do for a living but over $3000 for a guitar is unthinkable for me. I would think the same way even if I was gigging 5 nights/week and making "decent" money out of it.

Tone Merchants doesn't have anything on there web site for La Customs. Is there a site just for there guitars that describes them and options? when will they be available?
