I am super stoked about this amp.

I have been wanting a Fortin modded Marshall for about a year, but every time one pops up, I either don't have the free cash or I miss it.

Got lucky this morning and saw Rian's SPAM ad and scooped it up.

Sorry that he didn't mesh with the amp, but I am glad I popped on the forum when I did.

Can't wait to molest it with some thrashy riffs

Congrats Tony!
I have a Fortin modded Vintage modern at the house for about a week and its rocking!!

Selling the Powerball II?

Dan

Wow! My amp is going to be in three different homes in two weeks!

Well...it can give ya those thrash tones for sure. I thought it was tight on the spongy setting! I think it is reversed to how it was labeled too....pulling the gain 1 is tight, pushed in it is spongy....It is labeled the opposite. :D

Tony....Mike F. emailed me a .pdf manual of the cali mod, so if ya want it, shoot me your email address and I will send it to ya, otherwise I am sure Mike will email it to you if ya ask him.

Thanks Rian.

I dropped you my email addy.

BTW.....do you know what preamp tubes are in her?

There were 2 Mesa Russian 12ax7s in the v1/v2 and 2 Groove Tube 12ax7-R in V3/V4. They looked pretty new. I don't know if mike suggested these to Dave or if he swapped them out? The power tubes were either Winged C's or Svetlanas.

Make sure you use a Chinese 12AX7 in the Cathode Follower position. On that amp, if you look at it from the back, it will be the 2nd preamp tube from the left.

Russian tubes have a habit of going bad in that position, because they can't handle the heater to cathode voltage. Sometimes they make weird noises, but most of the time they just cut out all the volume.

The Powerball II is actually going back to Josh for repairs. It got damaged in shipping. It works and sounds GREAT...they got it right this time IMHO...but it apears to have a fault code. I think it was dropped pretty hard in shipping. No physical damage and I am sure it will be 100% after the fix.

Holy Crap! That's alot of knobs!!!!

Congrats Tony. If i recall correct you had a few Mark III's that you liked? If you liked the Mark series you'll love the Cali. Not that the Cali is a Boogie with a Marshall headshell but you appreciate the style of aggresive gain but it's still very clear sounding and it's a blast to play leads on.
