Hey there,

after a longer break I was playing some blues on ch.3 on my VH4 when I noticed that 1 tube in the poweramp-section was brighter than the other ones. I think the 'anodenblech' was glowing, while it was normal on the other ones. I guess that isn't normal, or is it? I can make a photo if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes tubes get a short and work again after a while.
If the problem stays replace the tubes.

I just played about an hour and the anodenblech still glows a bit in the middle. But everything worked fine until now. Strange thing is that when I switch the amp to "standby" after playing that glow in the middle disappears suddenly and the tube glows exactly like the other tubes. When I start playing it appears again, kinda strange.

So I should just keep on playing and look after the tube regularly to see if it changes? Or should I rather leave it turned off (we have a rehearsal tomorrow). Thanks in advance!

Hey,

I've just checked the amp with my father and we've exchanged poweramp-tube 2 with 3 and vice versa. The result was that the 'glowing' tube still glowed more than the others even on another slot. So we've basically cut it down to a damage inside the tube from transporting. As the tube only glows a bit more than the others we've decided to use the current tubes until that one tube fails or makes the amp sound bad etc and then exchange the whole quad. I hope that's ok for the VH4 - it still sounds awesome as always.

Thanks very much, Hans
