 I am looking into getting a new Vht head, either the deliverance 60 or the sig-x head. I know the physical differences in the head, 1-channel,3 channel, no efx loop, efx loop. But it seems I read somewhere back in some posts when you guys were talking about the tubes needing to go, right off the bat when ya get one. ANY INFO ON THIS WOULD BE KILLER. THANKS.

When I had my UL I tried a bunch of different tubes......what ended up sounding the best was the stock arrangement. Steve F has good ears.

Tubes have not been very good lately.....

 yeah, I was just thinking back to some posts I had read and wanted to cover my bases before I choose. ;)

the stock tubes are fine, just need to check the bias on the amps.

think Kurtstuff got his Sig with a wrong tube in V1.

my Sig-x shipped with Sovtek WB in V1, and they claim to use Tung-sol or the Sovtek WC, but the WB ended up being the right tube for the job once the amp was biased up.

You mean, MY Sig:X.

How about the d-60's? Do I gotta check the bias on that one also?

Hey why do they come outta the factory with Bias problems? This sounds odd to me.

  yep, though i still got a 3.9% stake in it.

The Bias is EASY on the Sig:X, no worries......instructions printed right on the PCB!

FWIW, The Sig:X is easily the best amp I've ever owned. LOVE IT!

As far as problems with the bias, not sure on the current models, I haven't heard any problem with the bias on the newer ones, just the initial 150 or so.... I would imagine they have fixed the problem. VHT is an AWESOME company, and EXTREMELY helpful.

Had to break out the calculator for that didn't ya?

Comin at ya soon.........

suppose most amps from all manufactures ship biased a little cold to be on the safe side?

the Sig i got was biased cold, some guys said thier's came hot?

the D60 i got was allright and sounded good, but opened it up and biased it a little hotter.

Yeah know I think folks monkey around with shit way too quick. Bringing the bias up or down before having a feel for an amp is silly IMO of course.
As for the "cold" bias or "hot" bias on new amps. Depends who we're talking about two schools of thought, one the guys that want the amp sound better at way low volumes, the other the guys that expect stuff to be used with a band.

Me...I have yet to change a tube or bias on either the D60 or Sig X.

 Okay who bought which one where? TELL IT!

Juggernaut bought my Sig-x.

it was terrible out of the box the way it was biased. the first thing i did was mess with preamp tubes and that got it better but not nearly good enough, then i opened it up and biased it which made it way better but still not all the way there so i put it up for sale. then after i'd made the deal with Juggernaut, something clicked and i decided to try the WB preamp tube again and the amp was all there and then some.

once i got the WB in there with the bias right the amp was defenantly a keeper, but the deal was made and the amp went to Juggernaut.

i pretty much just liked the rythmn channel on the Sig-x, so i decided to try one of the new D60's and see what i thought. lots cheaper and i don't really care for a bunch of channels and switches and whatnot. the D60 is a great amp, but i liked the Sig-x more than it. the D60 was however way better from the get go than the Sig-x, the Sig-x took some work to get it worth a damn.

the D60 is a great amp and loud as fuck, guessing i like how the little bit of extra watts makes the Sig-x feel?

Yea I forgot about that, but they supposed to be right on the newer runs, so if he buys new, he'll be good.

A little researched and he'd have learned this as well....

I say Sig-X just for the amount of options that you have available.

I do not worry about the tube issues, you buy one and it is covered by Steve if something is wrong. The DL is a cool amp as well, IMO Sgt Thumb's best recorded tone but I am sure he will argue that one :D Very deep bark and it fills a room.....very cool barebones amp for sure.

well, i'm a total hack who plays really badly at ear splitting levels. i defenantly acted hastily with selling it so quickly, but don't think i was too quick to monkey with it.

but yea, the D60 was fine the way i got it. the Sig-x really was terrible, the 40watt setting wasn't so bad, but the 100watt was flat out terrible.

cell phone calculator

ya know the D60 would look good sitting underneath that Sig-x :inlove:
