Those board "details" are the coolest part of the amp.

The middle finger was a great touch.

Cool gut shots, components seem to be of decent quality from what I can see. PCB looks to be double sided FR4, which is much better for mounting large components like tube sockets on it than the cheap single sided Chem1 PCBs you find in alot of amps (marshall DSL401 for example)

How are you liking the Sig X or did I miss that thread?

Decent quality?!?!

It's not PTP and it doesn't have chassis mounted Tube Sockets/Pots! How could it possibly be quality!?!

:D

Cork sniffers are funny. I would really, really love to try a Sig:X.

The Thing is a MONSTER, best amp I've had yet. TONS of tones in it, and BALLSY as hell. This is my first venture with VHT and I'm VERY impressed. Kick ass amp, I love it.

You should try one, I grin ear to ear every time I've plugged into it, Hell I'm a Thrash player, and I stay on the Rhythm channel most of the time, the Lead channel is just insane.

You think I am a cork sniffer  What led you to think I was slamming the PCB design? I was talking about the components being decent, and I said little about the build quality other than that they used high quality PCBs.

I can't see the exact brands of the components used on the PCB, the few I could read like ST micro are brands I trust, but not my favorite. It looks like they are using orange sprague foil caps. That's all I can tell about the components. Build quality looks good. You can only tell so much from pictures.

 Would you say this amp is noisy when you are in between songs? Or in otherwords, does it have a noisy idle? Someone told me this amp had a noisy clean channel so this is why I am asking. Thanks for the info, cool pics.

I wouldn't say so, I use a noise gate once the volume gets past a certain point, but I haven't noticed any excess noise....

:) The reason I ask is I got the bug to try one of these new Vht amps out. I like what I hear from the deliverance 60 heads. and I have not gotten hold of any clips of the Sig-x yet. Have you played both? And do you know what the difference would be? The d-60 is a single channel and it runs kt-88's but I am not sure how much more is different. What tubes are in the Sig-x? ;)

6 - 12ax7
1 - 5u4g (Optional I think)
2 - KT88

I haven't had the pleasure of playing a Deliverance YET.....

I was not saying you were a cork sniffer, I was merely using your post as a jumping off point to make fun of the wider cork sniffer group.

I'm sorry if I offended, that was not the intention.

I just didn't want this thread to turn into this: http://vintageamps.com/plexiboard/viewt ... ght=ac50cp

I have no issues with PCB design when its done right....

BTW anyone know how well does this amp sounds at low power mode?

how many reviews here talk about " i used mu sig-x live and it burned out, during the gig." no thanks . give me a marshall !

Ya... what's up with that?

I've NEVER heard of anyone complaining of a VHT going down in the past... Never a UL or a CLX.

kw
