So last weekend my band (3 up 3 down) hosted the 3rd Annual Rock for Mike event at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY. The event is a celebration/fundraiser for our former bass player who passed away unexpectedly on New Years Day in 2014. This year we were honored to share the stage with Eddie Ojeda from Twisted Sister. The event was also a remembrance of A.J. Pero who passed away one year earlier following a show at The Chance. Eddie cam to practice a few nights before the show to rehearse three songs with us....The Price, Can't Stop Rock & Roll and Under the Blade. He was such an awesome guy to be around....very humble and treated us like we were old friends. As long standing TS fans we were all in a little bit of awe which quickly wore off when we started jamming! Eddie sounded great! On the night of the show he was again gracious, humble and very much down to earth. He took time to talk to everyone and take tons of pics without once seeming like he wasn't having a good time. He hung out after the show and was a true gentleman....not to mention a rock icon! My band has opened for TS twice including at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center when they donated there time for a benefit concert for an officer that I worked with who was killed in the line-of-duty. I have, nor will ever have anything but positive things to say about all the members of TS...especially Eddie for this special night last weekend.
