I plan to upgrade my speakers in my current cab, they are some low grade celestions currently. I wanted to go with the v30s!
just curious what the general consensus is on the following:

best priced online retailer?

best comparable discount brand (i've heard of warehouse speakers and hellatones?)

any other speaker I should consider if I dig the v30 but have a limited budget?

as always - thanks a million!

best deal i've found is from http://www.avatarspeakers.com in the hellatone line. they're 100% the same as any other V30 you'd buy from any other shop, they've just been broken in for you and have a new sticker that says "hellatone" stuck over the factory celestion one. i have one splawn 4x12 with older broken in V30s and another with hellatone V30s and the hellatone one sounds just a little bit better and a bit smoother even against V30s broken in the good ol' fashioned way of play time. so i say go with the hellatones for sure.

+1 on the Hellatones. My new Hellatone 60 sounds better than my 5 year old English Made V30.

I completely disagree with XSSIVE's comment about the helltone. When guys say that X sounds better than Y then you know what's up, their estimation, not yours.

If you like unparalleled tone of the authentic Celestion Vintage 30, then get just that, authentic Celestion Vintage 30. The helltone is NOT a authentic Celestion Vintage 30.

I will however agree with XSSIVE that you can't go wrong with Avatar and make sure you get Brand Spanking new Vintage 30 Celestion speakers. You control the breaking process, and that's that!

from the website

We start with a stock great sounding classic 60 watt Celestion Vintage 30. We convert it into a Hellatone by aging it slightly and by exercising the suspension for 15 hours so when you get it, it has a warmer tone on the very first note.

hellatones are 110% the same as the regular celestion V30 they're just aged using avatar speakers "hellatone" aging process...that is the ONLY difference PERIOD. this is not what i think, or estimation, or a guess or anything like that it's 110% flat out fact. to further prove it, here is some indisputable proof for you...

here;s a close up pic of a hellatones 30 i sold a while back showing the original celestion G12H30 sticker under the hellatone label. you can clearly see that avatar just sticks their "hellatone" sticker over the factory celestion sticker after they do their "hellatone" aging process to them...

look below the "H" in hellatone you can lcearly see the factory "G12H" from this set of hellatone 30s which are the aged G12H30 (the V30 is the hellatone 60)

please do your research and know the facts about products before you "completely disagree" with people about them.

you are right in one fact, my opinion is that my hellatone V30s in my one splawn 4x12 sound better than my older aged by use V30s in my other splawn 4x12. that is my opinion, yes. what's fact though is that they are 110% the SAME speaker, just one was aged by playing one was aged by avatars speakers "hellatone" aging process...that's the only difference.

Please ignore King Misinformation. Avatar's Hellatone brand are simply re-labeled, broken-in Celestions. Hellatone = 100 % Celestion.

I would recommend the 60L over the 60. A slight variation of a V30, better IMO. More solid, a tad less breakup.

That. best way to go for v30's period.

Yep. +1 on the Hellatones. And the Price is killer. I have some Hellatone 30's and I love em. Hellatones are the only way to go for H30's and V30's IMO. You can see the celestion label under the Hellatone 30 label on mine too. And there is a small white model/serial sticker on the side of the magnet that says "G12H30"

Are H30's and V30's really a good mix? An Avatar 412 is tempting, but I don't know if I would go Ubercab style with V30 and 75's or the V30/H30 mix. Greenbacks would also sound pretty killer. What would a Marshall type amp sound the best through?

i must agree about the Hellatones. I have them in a Diezel cab of mine & a Splawn cab. Super speakers & priced just right. Check out the Avatar page. They buy so many speakers they usually have the best $$ around.

Either the H30/V30 or T75/V30 combo is good. I have not tried mixing V30s with greenbacks.

H30 and v30 (or H60) are a fantastic mix...

thanks for the info guys! Looks like I'll be getting some Hellatones unless someone can convince me otherwise....i won't be able to order them for a while but the price and the reviews say enough for me. and honestly, i don't know enough and dont' care enough about speaker break-in that i would probably fuck up some brand new celestions anyway. so pre-broke-in (is that a word? LOL) Hellatones sound perfect.

thanks again.
