What year is this? I’m thinking 1982 from minimal research. Japan import? I can’t find any matching photos online. Painted neck. Maybe custom one off? Anyways hope it plays and sounds good when it arrives

Headstock is from ~nineties era, like the 901

I have two ESP's with the same headstock. Both are early 90's

But 90's ones have the different shape neck plate serial #01608 and this ones body is more traditional strat so I'm thinking earlier?

It's an old one. I'd say 1984.Notice the truss rod at the heel. Is the neck painted white too? I had a blue one but also had the fingerboard painted blue. It was not a good guitar. I hope you didn't pay more than a few hundred for this one dude.

Yup that blue one. I totally wasn't trying to be a dick about the guitar or price. I've owned and sold a ton of old esps and lately some sellers are asking 2x-3x as much as they're worth.

Looks like maybe it had a Roland synth pickup at one time?

Yeah had a roland pic...seems to be a level above quality of painted fretboard ones. Probably built out of their NY 19th st loft or 48th st
