Vintage Modern mods?

Not sure let me se if I can get the schematic.

As a VM owner, I don't think the VM needs mods. If you need more gain an SD-1 sounds great in front. Check out the sound clips from the West Coast Ampfest 2010 thread. (If I knew how I would link to it... sorry).

Cheers,

Look few on R-T have championed the VM as much as I have. Both Brad(rareguitar) and myself have spoken highly of the VM for quite some time. It's a great Marshall, no doubt. But some of us wish it was a little tighter, fatter and meaner with less noise. Besides stock VMs can be had for pretty cheap all day long on ebay, so there is not a lot of risk. I have a little bit of an idea of what Dave can do tonewise and should the OT pick up at work again( it comes and goes in cycles) I would love to see what Dave can do to the VM.

I bet Dave can make the VM the best it can be and then some.

It would be cool to have a VM that does BE on the low gain setting, and HBE on the high gain! It goes from 3 to 4 preamp tubes when you hit the higher gain mode, so BE to HBE would be a natural fit, I would think?

This thread started in June. I guess it's not to high on the priority list.

Dave is up to his eyeballs with amps at the moment, but I am sure he will get to it.

I could do some sort of mod on it but right now I am swamped.

I have the schem. What do you want to do to it? I thought you liked it .... typical guitar player.
Im exactly the same.

Dave if you have some overflowwork, easy stuff you want to get rid of, I can cover some of it.

Schematics.....

Yes Race, Jim and I have boosted with everything under the sun. It all kills, but.....
as he said its tightening it up,
Taking a Lil harsh off the top.... sweetening it..... giving more gain range on low....
great basic voice, plenty of gain, but Mr F could prolly elavate it exponentially.....

Dave have you had the chance to tinker with a VM yet? Just curious.

Jim
