Vintage output humbuckers

I'm looking for some recommendations on what to try next.
Currently I'm using:
Suhr SSV bridge with Gibson Burstbucker Pro neck
Motor City Black Belt set
Bareknuckle Mule Set

I've tried almost EVERY Seymour Duncan and there
seems to be a Dimarzio flavor that I just don't like.
Alnico seems to be my thing.
Other than that, I'm wide open.
I played Tom Anderson pickups for a long time, but they were
the original H series. I was thinking of trying their HC series.

Recommendations?
 
I play fully modified basswood OLP MM1 guitars.
They're like the Ernie Ball Axis.
 
Wolfetone Dr. Vintage or Marshallhead with alnico 2 mag.
 
Second a Marshallhead. Also don't discount the Dimarzio 36th Anniversary. Doesn't sound like your typical Dimarzio.
 
Alnico II pro... You've probably tried it but try it again.

I have a MCP 2nd degree in the bridge of my LP and I LOVE it. Would probably sound totally different in your guitar though. The new Suhr Thornbuckers seem like great pups too.
 
They may be a lil hotter than vintage output, but I've had good experiences with BKP VHII's.
 
Suhr DSHs. I've got them in a few Singlecuts, and they are amazing. The only better PAF style pickup made is the PRS DGT (David Grissom signature). They were made with his ears judging, using his 1959 Gibson ES PAFs as a guide.
 
Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell is an excellent vintage output neck pickup with alnico magnet.

Tom Holmes H455/H450 - There is no substitute. They are high priced, but are built like a Rolex, and sound incredible. If you don't want to go that route, I'd try DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF or Duncan "Seth Lover" PAF. Wolfetone Marshallhead MKII w/Alnico II magnets are mighty fine pickups as well.

I used to play the MM1 guitars until I landed on Sterlings. I have one AX40 with a Peavey Wolfgang in the bridge, and another with factory DiMarzio Axis in neck and bridge. I only with the Sterlings (and OLP too) had maple tops to give it a little more punch and brightness (but the maple veneers at least make them look killer!).

OLP had one version with a real maple top but it was not flame or quilt
it was in a piano black gloss finish and came with a real floyd,
they only offered them for a year then they were long gone.
I bought one used and for the $200 i paid it was killer!

How do you arrive at this analogy?

One is made with exacting specd intricate and tiny moving parts machined in house to crazy tolerances.
The other is well, wire and magnets with no moving parts at all.
While it may be a fine sounding pickup isn't much different than other humbuckers in construction.

One is made with exacting specd intricate and tiny moving parts machined in house to crazy tolerances.
The other is well, wire and magnets with no moving parts at all.

"Built like a Rolex..." infers similarity in build quality. For your own knowledge and edification...

Except for the magnets and wire, all components are fabricated by Tom Holmes. This includes: Stamping and electroplating the covers, base plates, extrusion and molding of the bobbins. They are without question, the finest built humbuckers available.
