I am thinking about picking up a Mid 80's ESP Strat but it has Vintage style Tuners..
This is a Picture of the tuners..

What are my options or who makes Locking Tuners that will not leave screw holes if I put the original Vintage tuners back on the guitar??
I do not really care if the screw holes from the existing Tuners show If I put on Locking Tuners..
But I do not want the screw holes showing from the locking tuners if and when the Originals were put back on...

Only ones I could that would hide the screw hole are the Schaller Locking Tuners with a Pin instead of a Screw like this..
Is there anything else out there???
Because this is the only thing holding be back from Buying the guitar, Maybe I am just thinking to hard about this..

Sperzel use a pin rather than a screw, so those are another option

I use the Sperzel locking tuners on my GMW Strat, and they're the staggered versions. It helps improve tuning stability due to the strings being pulled through the nut at a straighter angle. No need for string trees :)

Thanks for the Help guys...
Gotoh is Hosco Inc of Japan and made in China, So I will pass on those....
Kluson has no phone number listed on their site so I emailed them to see where they are made...
Schaller is easy Made in Germany, Hopefully anyways...
Sperzel I talked to on my lunch break they are made in the U.S.A. That is my pick so far unless I hear back from Kluson...

I don't we should see each other anymore..
But your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends. I don't think it would work. You have a little something...
I know that your friends are my friends and, uh... I thought about that. You can have'em.

if the hole size is the same as the vintage type 11/32" then I think you will have to enlarge the hole on the headstock to make the sperzels work since they are 13/32". I think (I could be wrong on this) that the gotoh are the only locking tuners that will fit the vintage size holes without having to remove any wood. I was looking into this recently as well for a fender and the gotoh were the only ones I found...

Boof

You can use any kind you want,i used Grovers on my Les Paul and didn't use the screws.
Instead i used thin lock washers and didn't have to drill new holes.

You'll have to widen the post hole in your headstock if you use the Sperzels or TonePros...they both use a screw-on bolt which is wider. You'll need tuners with the press-in bushings. The best ones I know are the Gotoh locking ones suggested....they look nearly identical to the original tuners but are locking and work great and are reliable. Even though the Gotohs are Chinese, they work very well. Kluson is owned by WD music....which is a US company, but I don't know if they are actually produced in the US or not.
