Volume Pedal Uses?

I have seen these used as a simple cut your volume and for swells to being used as a send back in from a pedalboard to take out the board and raise the level to the amp.

Share some uses and applications you have done? I have never used one and trying to decide if it would be a nice addition to my small board.

Cut signal between songs, put it in your EFX Loop for a solo boost, control parameters on a efx unit, pull an entire set of gear in/out of the signal.

i made one, for use as an expression pedal for my timefactor

I use an 2 Ernie Ball 6166's with my G-System. 1 for volume and 1 for expression.

I like mine in the fx loop so the gain isn't altered. I do this for two main reasons: 1. There are sections in songs where the keyboardist has the forefront and I'm soloing lightly behind (but still at full gain), 2. During band practice, If I need to sort out a section I can do it at a whisper without disturbing other members.

I used my Visual Sound Volume pedal as the first pedal as an overall volume control. It is an active pedal, so it didn't seem to affect the gain as much as I though. I used it recently at an in prompt to gig where I knew I had to watch my volume, but a volume pedal is not part of my usual rig, still I like having one in the stable if I need it.

+1

I've tried using the volume in front of the amp, but in the end, I want a volume pedal to be only a volume pedal, and not a volume/tone pedal.

A good volume pedal is indispensable for me. I landed on the George Dennis stereo volume. It's optical, extremely transparent, and impedance switchable, so you can use it in front of, or in the loop of your amp without any funky impedance mismatch going on.
