I have heard a few clips, but would like some personnel feedback, does anyone have a modded marshall from voodoo

eat that popcorn   It's good, I know, I eat enough of it around here

Never owned the Marshall mods, but had my 51shitty modded by the gang. Stick with your Bray.

5150 mod was no good HUH

I don't have a jose mod, but I have DSL with their deluxe mod. IMO it's the cat's ass. It's been my #1 for over 3 years now and actually I sold off my other amps.

I also had my JMP-1 modded by them (which was a great improvement) and I had two of their cabs. Obviously not everyone's going to like their stuff, but I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again.

BTW - I have played a v-rock which is based on the hg jose mod. It definitely had that modded marshall sound of the 70s and 80s. I liked it better than the Bray modded plexi I tried - and it sounded better at low volumes. Well if I remember correctly the Bray I tried didn't really have a low volume.

Obviously this is all IMHO. What I like may not be what you like.

thanks

I have a preproduction Vplexi in a little Bogen chassis and it kicks all kinds of ass!!! Their work is clean and solid and they are great to deal with.

On a side note, I never did understand the 5150 craze. I don't care who did what to those amps, unless you crank the shit out of them they sounded like an AM radio with the volume full up, wrapped in a sleeping bag and thrown down a sewer tunnel.

No kidding? I think the 5150 is a fantastic amp!!! Seriously...

Yep. I tried a few over the years, combo's included. Once you gun the thing up about 1/2 way they sound decent but anything below that was just lacking I thought.

I had both a head and a combo and I really liked them both

I've got an ADA MP-1 modded by them and a couple of their cabinets now and had a modded DSL (sounded HUGE and wish I hadn't sold it) and I would say that in my experience, I've had ZERO problems and have nothing but good things to say about Trace and Voodoo.

My Voodoo modded JMP 2204 1978 is wicked good. Its actually a little sensitive to preamp tubes but I like that part since I can sort of tweak the sound a little. Honestly I will never get rid of this amp, it kicks all kinds of major ass. I can hit more or less any Marshall tone from Plexis to 2210 and beyond. I also can dial in Mesa style mids or any combination of low/high mids. Its chunky, or smooth depending on how you set the controls. Also I can turn my volume down and get a real nice Fender style clean pushed tone.

This is the Hex mod though. Voodoo has a range of different style mods, so its not like they all sound just like a modded marshall or anything.

When are the Witchdoctor and Hex heads coming out? It's literally been years since they announced them.

They decided to do them all hand-wired instead of pcb. I'm pretty sure they are making them now.

FWIW - I played the 2 channel prototype Hex and WD and I think they sounded awesome.
