Greetings everyone I was thinking to get a Voodoo mod on my recto preamp. They say they can tighten up thethe lowright end and get rid of the grainy sound. Does anyone have any experience with voodoo amps mods and the improvement they say they will do? Reliability is pretty important to me as well as keeping the general core tone still there. Thanks in advance for your input

There's alot of guys who perform mods on this forum. You should check out Lickliteramps. Good guy who know's his shits and knows ALOT about mods. Shoot him a message one here even if it's to ask about someone elses mod.

Never had a Mesa done, but Trace @ Voodoo is great. I would highly recommend his work. Feel free to PM me any questions.

+1.......Trace is a phenomenal guy to deal with and his work is very reliable and right on the money with what he says. I've had two amps modded by him. Feel free to PM me as well if you want more info or have questions.

I think all of the above mentioned are good choices to consider, but make sure to check out Rhodes too- just landed his Dual Rec and it slays!

I had one done about 4 or 5 years ago. It improved it but I didn't think it was worth the dough. I ended up selling it a month later and took a pretty good loss on it.

I'm sorry about your experience. My experiences have been quite the opposite. Trace has always spent hours with me (via email and/or phone) prior to and during a modification. After I've received the mod we spend more time talking about how I like it and he is always willing to do a tweak until he "gets it right." My HG-Jose modded Marshall and V-Rock are two of my favorite amps - tone is always subjective.

Dont get me wrong, Trace is awesome to deal with and a great guy. I just didn't think it was a night and day difference in the finished product.
