Check the JVM forum, but I think that the general consensus is that you are better off just taking off the bright cap and installing a choke (both easy mods). Jerry's work is awesome but I think it really shines on other amps.

i dont think any mods are worth it

if your not happy with the amp sell it and buy something else

All you need with a JVM is to install a choke, very simple.
Put a good set of tubes in it and bias it properly.
And run it through G12H30's in a good 4x12
Done.

Tranny's and all that other stuff is not necessary IMHO

What effect does removing the bright cap and installing a choke have on the tone?

From my experience, it really messes it up(bright cap).
Makes it a lot muddier sounding, and you loose gain.
A lot of people do the bright cap to get the clean and crunch channels to sound more like a 2203/2204 etc.
But the amp has those tones nailed stock to begin with.

Through player/customer feedback our JVM Mod has recently been redesigned. There is a lot more gain and the tone is better balanced/focused. If you have any questions please feel free to call me Mon-Fri at 607-256-0465 from 9am-5pm east coast time or email me directly trace@voodooamps.com. As always if anyone has a Mod and they are not happy with it please call us. We want happy customers not unhappy customers and we try to do all we can to make every one happy.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving - happy holidays!! :)
