I need to add a wah to my pedal board for some upcoming shows. My crybaby needs some TLC and I don't want it on my board, parents got it for me when I was 13 or 14 and I don't want it to get snatched at a show.

Not sure I want to drop 150+ on a wah either. I am thinking an 847A may be a good place to start and maybe do some mods and see what happens. Just looking for opinions on the Vox. Is the sweep good? is it ear piercing? etc.

TIA!

I've been through a ton of Wah's and my search ended with a Teese Picture Wah. Vocal, full and great range....not to mention simple (I don't like a bunch of knobs on my wah's). You can ususally find them for around $120-$130 used...

The sweep is a not very robust on mine. Might be some good mods out there for it. I like to use it in the full treble mode for that high pass filter tone.

I really liked the Metal/chrome vox wahs, I got one for $15 bucks at a trading post and loved it!! I dont know about the newer plastic black wah, the build doesnt look great and I wonder if the circuitry is the same as the chrome type?? I also liked the Fasel inductor equipped cry baby that dunlop put out a few years ago. It had a raw, scratchy, in your face wah sound with a nice sweep, it was my favorite even over the more expensive boutique types. Listen with your ears
