Anyone with experience with both of these pedals? I'm thinking about moving away from the rack world for a while. Delay is my most used effect. I've narrowed it down to these two delays. I like that the TM has a tap tempo switch, but I would love to hear from you guys about it and the HW DL-8. Thanks!

I can't speak on the Time Machine, but my DL-8's might be the best sounding delays in pedal form I've ever used. They are very warm.

If I recall correctly, by stepping and holding the pedal down on the DL-8, it WILL go into tap tempo mode. The knob cover is genius by the way.

Yeah, I knew about how to get to the tap. Some of the Boss pedals are the same way. Which to me seems like a pain. I've also thought about the TC Flashback, but I've heard that there are some issues with these.

I had a couple flashbacks but replaced both with DL8's and couldnt be happier. Just a much more lush sounding delay to my ears....plus the knob cover os cool so my settings never get moved going from show to show

Not sure about the features between the two, but Dave Friedman has recommended the DL-8 numerous times.

EL capistan>hardwire>flashback. Just sounds more organic. Way more real In every setting. That's just me though. The el cap is the only digital verb I have ever bonded with. I would take a carbon copy over the hardwire any day. The el cap can do a dark sound a bright sound plus it can have that chorus effect if needed!

I bought the DL8 a while back when MF was blowing them out for $59. Best $59 piece of gear ever. Makes my boss delays sound like garbage.

Just bought a DL8 from Guitar Center used site for $79.......haven't plugged it in yet so I can't help you :D

I had a DL8 on order from MF when they were blowing them out for $59 but then heard they are discontinued, order canceled. Damn! I bought a Flashback and returned it the next day. The knobs move way too easily for my taste and I just didn't bond with how it sounded.

Plugged back into my Carbon Copy and am staying with it. I don't know what I was thinking buying the Flashback. The Carbon Copy has no tone suck and everything just stays way more punchy.

That said, it would have been great to get the DL8 new at that price! :aww:

I think you will like it. I like mine, got it when they were blowing them out. I do find my flashback x4 much warmer, basically what I found is that both have their place.

If the dl8 doesn't work out the akai headrush e2 is being sold at a blowout price amazon and sweetwater.

If you have a looper, use that with the dl8 if you want tap tempo. You can then leave the dl8 in tap tempo mode and just bypass it with the tb looper.

You can also split the DL-8 into two individual mono delay lines.

There still around I saw some a couple of days ago at GC 59 bucks. Another one of my favorites is the Polara, pretty awesome

I'm mainly just looking for a good digital delay. I had a Carbon Copy for about a week a few years ago. I found out very quickly that I don't like analog delay...lol. I loved the tape delay setting on the TC Nova System, but at the time I needed something that would switch my midi faster than the NS did. I'm looking to go back to a few good pedals based on the effects that I actually use and just use the footswitch for the 5153 to do channel switching- which I don't do very often. At them moment I'm thinking a good delay and a chorus pedal should get me all I really use.
