W/D/W rigs...i have seen the light!

I have been waiting for this day for weeks and planning accordingly! i finished up my last final this morning at 9am, packed up and drove home. when i got home no one was around so i spent the last couple of hours jamming on my W/D/W rig. all i have to say is my ears hurt really, really bad

I was running my guitar (caparison horus w/BKP Painkiller) into the following:
Powerball > Marshall 1960A 4x12 w/G12T-75's
Powerball efx send > Boss DD-7 > Boss RV-5 > Mosvalve MV962 (left speaker out) > Mesa rectifier 4x12 w/Vintage 30's and G12K-85's in X config (right speaker out)> Engl 4x12 w/Vintage 30's

What's funny is that after hooking it up i was jamming on it and i loved the sound i was getting. Then i went over to put the amp on standby so i could work my triple recto into the mix and i realized i had left the powerball on standby the whole time. after i flipped the switch my reaction was just
It just sounds so much beefier, bigger and heavier than running amp > efx > 4x12 . I don't think i'm going to be able to go back to running a regular rig ever again

the only problem is now i foresee myself getting the itch for a nice tube poweramp

I've been thinking about rewiring one of my marshall 4x12s so it's mono on the lower two speakers (for dry) and then top two speakers are stereo for wet - so I can just take a head and a rack with fx and poweramp and get W/D/W goodness.

I have a Slo, XTC and Intellifex.
Need help.
Do I take the Slave out of the Slo run it into the Intellifex then put that into the XTC effects return? It would be mono. Does this fly?

I was all hot to go W/D/W a while back. Your statement is exactly why abandoned the project. Stereo effects are addictive enough. Last thing I want is to need to haul around a head, a rack and 3 cabs.

Sweet! Let us know your results. I'm sure it won't be as cool as running three seperate cabs but sure would be a cool space saver, especially onstage!

Dry guitar amp into dry 4x12 in center. Dry amp line out to stereo effects, stereo power amp, then to a left and right 4x12. Or you could do like me an have a slightly modified version that is more D/W/W using a stereo 4x12 for the stereo effects... You haven't lived if you have played through a W/D/W rig...

Just make one cab stereo and you already cut the weight of your rig by 100 lbs!

Yeah, I was thinking maybe a few nice 1x12 cabs for portability. I am just anal enough to want the stereo to be in separate cabs.
