I'm just gonna leave this here. All content is unaltered.

Customer is also a client of mine for whom I've built a few amps.

Hi Wade, Looks a like a USPS tracking number was created on the 9th. I fully understand you are very busy, so I am not nagging here. However, it has been two months since I paid for my Blackbelt II pickup and I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask if you can provide me with an estimate as to when it with be finished and shipped. I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you very much.

Dave

Dave... Really dude.... Really??? I printed your shopping label dude. Jesus dude, let me put it in the mail box..fuck!!! I had to map out and drill the holes on the other side of the base plate for you, sure I've been putting it off it's extra work and work that I shouldn't be doing because I don't offer the product like that which I am for you for some stupid fucking reason... You know what, when I get home I'll send your money back dude...fuck this. You simply waited because I had new base plates I wanted to provide that to you, and they needed to be custom drilled. Had you ordered what I offer you would have it already... When I get home I send your money W

Don't even bother emailing me back dude, seriously!

Just curious why did he need to drill custom holes?

What a great and professional response, Wade you need to smoke a joint dude...Really dude. lol

I've seen far too many "what's up with Wade/MCP" threads by different customers pop up over the years. I wasn't even shopping for them but the regularity of said threads made it stick in my mind. I'd never buy anything from this clown.

Hmmm  That's weird. I bought a pickup from him and it wasnt quite what I was after 'tone wise' so sent it back, he tweaked it and shipped it back (for free) and it was perfect!...and VERY quickly I might add...within a week or so if I recall

In my conversations we've had I have nothing but good things to say about him. That really sucks for you, I'm sorry to hear that

Pretty weak!I know things happen and circumstances come up but that response was uncalled for. Even if he was doing something additional (that he normally doesn't do) Wade obviously agreed to it and should have laid out timelines or stated his reservations in advance. Get your money back and move on. I bought pickups from him a couple of years ago and the transaction went very well and thought Wade to be a great guy. Hopefully everything is okay.

Sounds like there may be more to this. There's two sides to every story. Just sayin'. :dunno:

I know his stuff takes a long time and the communication is lacking, but I never had any issues with him and even have sent a set of pickups back to get new base plates since my guitar tech drilled screw holes to where they could not be used on any other guitar for free. He has also rewound at least two pickups that were not to my liking for free. I agree there is two sides to every story. I do know when he prints the USPS label it does not mean it is ready to be shipped immediately after. I guess I am more patient these days especially after the whole CCV debacle so waiting two months or so is no big deal for me!!

I'm plenty patient as well, but getting an expletive filled email in response to a simple question like that isn't acceptable regardless of how patient you are. There is just no call for that.

Not really. Even if there was, it doesn't justify the reply to his message that Dave received. I've done work for Dave for over a year now. He is very discerning, but he is patient and he is cordial. It's evident from the original message that he has not bugged Wade for the pickup, not is he being demanding about receiving it. All he was asking for was an ETA.

It was not the greatest response and he was probably having a bad day, but was there any need to publish this private correspondence publicly?
I'm sure they could have sorted it out on their own.

I ordered a Detroiter set about a year and half ago, and it took about two months, and I made one inquiry (after the shipping label thing too), and it came not long after. Again, not a great professional response, but I don't think there was any need to throw it out here.

Please. If that kind of correspondence came from your cell service provider, electric company or
Your Car dealership, most people wouldn't think twice about putting them on blast. Entire websites are dedicated to posting up customer service horror stories to warn consumers. Just because he's a one man operation doesn't mean he should be any less courteous or that his business correspondence be any more private.

I've ordered from Wade a half dozen times...and I'm ordering more MCP's soon. His pickups are great!! I'm pretty sure he's a one man business and I don't ever remember getting hard ETA's when ordering but it's usually 6-8 weeks. But sometimes ya just gotta be patient.

Just work it out with him, the email could be construed as being sort of accusatory... but then it's says it's not.... but then it says it again,...and then the cherry on the top ending... probably just both having a misunderstanding and then having bad day, two sides to every story... just don't think it's right to put somebody else's private email up on a forum especially since all MCP email's contain this:

**This is a private e-mail. Any mail received from Motorcity Pickups is strictly confidential to the addressed party exclusively and not to be used in any public publications, forums, chat rooms, magazines, news paper publications, radio broad-castings or any third party affiliations without prior written and notarized consent from Motorcity Pickups. If you receive this mail in error, please dispose of and disregard immediately.

I guess it's like getting kicked out of a bar... just go to the next one then

I love Wade's pickups and have had good dealings with him (aside from every order I've ever made being later than promised... which seems to be a theme in these threads... but in my experience it was worth the wait), but if I got a response like that to what was written in that email, I'd have a serious problem with it and wouldn't hesitate to let others know. When you run a small business like his, word-of-mouth is what sells your product. If you are unprofessional and childish to your customers (and that response was clearly unprofessional; anyone here who argues otherwise is doing so only because they like Wade) you can expect your business to suffer because of it. No one here would accept that kind of response regardless of if Wade is a one man operation or not.

I understand people liking Wade and his product, but defending what is in black and white in this thread is ridiculous. Wade was in the wrong and acting unprofessional. Period.

I guess everyone has their bad days( don't tell me that you've never had a bad moment that you wished you would've acted differently), but when I spoke to him about a pickup I wanted to order, he was very helpful and I am very happy with mine.

I love wades pickups, i hate his website and peculiar behavior.

Catch him on a good day and it is all good, catxh him on a bad day and the behavior is seriously erratic.

Epic customer service fail, no excuses

Thank you for posting
That pickup better be the bees knees to cop that kind of attitude

I totally agree. His response was uncalled for, regardless of his side of the story. Not good business.

This is why I love how many options there are for most gear these days. There's zero need to deal with this kind of behavior when there are so many who are pro's in what they make and in how they conduct business.
