Ok fellas I think I need a wah pedal. Never really used one much before so I don't know which one to get. I see a bunch of the morley wah's on my local craigslist for pretty cheap but I always see mixed reviews on them. What do you guys think? What is the wah pedal to get? What I feel is the most important thing to me is no tone suck. Right now me and my JVM have it going on so I would rather not throw a tone sucking pedal in front of it.

I have the Morley Bad Horsie 2. Got it for $40 like new condition on CL. Sounds good to me for high gain stuff, but I don't use a lot of wah. Never really tried any others.

Yea There's one for $50 on Houston craigslist right now. Been eyeballin it for sure.

Crybaby 535q is fantastic , or the dimebag wah (which is the same wah but supercharged).

These wahs have a selector to tailor the sweep and the tone. Very versatile and they also have a solo boost that really kicks ass.
You mean when you click the wah on a boost comes on too? That's sweet! Theres one for $60 on craigslist. I should grab it huh?

Check out RMC, the picture wah and the perfect 10 are fantastic!!!!

There is a plate you can get for under a wah that will bypass it. My local GC has one or 2 used

There is also a simple mod to the Dunlop that makes it true bypass

I've gone through quite a few wah pedals. At the moment, I have the Dunlop Petrucci wah, the Cantrell Wah, a Budda Wah and a Tremonti Wah. I recently sold a CAE wah that, while cool and has options, just wasn't my thing. My favorite is the Petrucci wah that thing will really bend your tone...a close second is the Cantrell. I've noticed some wahs get weird when you have them toe-up, like your sound disappears. The Cantrell and Petrucci both appear free from this particular thing.

The Dimbag wah is pretty cool and very tweakable. I currently have a Cantrell, and it sounds good for everything - rock, funk, etc. I've been interested in the Teese stuff for awhile, but they're pretty pricey. The Cantrell gets it done though and sounds very good.

whoa! How does that work? Does that make it true bypass? If you had a choice of using that or modding a dunlop what would you pick?

any of you guys have experience with the Dunlop 95q? It is spring loaded, which i dig... currently using a Tremonti wah but my Hendrix has FAR superior tone in my opinion, but live having the spring loaded is super nice... i want to try the 95q bad...

I've got an original Bad Horsie, and while the tone of the wha itself is killer, and the switchless thing is a nice feature, I can't deal with the tone suck, so it stays on the shelf. Maybe the v2 is better in this regard??

Too bad, cause the pedal does sound really good otherwise, but it's not usable as is.

Did you try it with another pedal in front that has a buffer or line driver in it...?

I loved my BH...not sure if I still have its lol

Currently I can see a Cantrell, Hammet and Lynch Sig from where I'm sat...all great.

I would mod the Dunlop.

I liked the 535q it is adjustable with a knob on the side and 2 trim pots underneath that are accessible just by turning it over. Comes with a sheet that has Hendrix, and a bunch of other settings.

I use a Dunlop 2SR rack wah. My pedal board had a patch bay so I can unhook it and put a short cable in to bypass it.

I sent my dimebag in to Dunlop and had it made switchless and spring loaded , it's cool but you cant leave the wah in a position for any unique sounds.
yea that is one thing i like about my hendrix, can leave it in a heavy treble setting if i want for that AM radio sound... but live if i have a shitty sound guy, i cant tell you how many times i havent been able to tell if my way is even engaged... that is where the morley tremonti is nice.. has the light and the spring loaded factor... i just feel like the sweep isnt great with the tremonti, it gets the job done though... so nobody here has tried the 95Q??

Already been said but 535q

I also really like the range on the vox wah if you don't want an adjustable one. That was a straight up like Hendrix or porno music wah.

FWIW I hated the Bad Horsie, it stayed on for like a second after I let it go so you can't do any sudden stops or it carries over into areas you don't want it to unless you want to try and guess when it will stop. No thanks.

I can hear the difference when using the buffer in the Dunlop wahs at least with my pedalboard. I have had no issues with the Dunlop mini wah and it sounds like how a wah should for cheap.

Many years ago when I was looking for a wah and settled on the Morley Bad Horsie. About 2 years ago I wanted a change, went on another search and tried many different wah's, even some boutique stuff. Wound up with the 535Q as I thought it sounded just as good as some that were twice the cost. I special ordered it switchless (since I was used to the Morley) and now feel it's the perfect wah. Still dig the Bad Horsie though.
