Bridge pu is a Lawrence 500XL (B&B), neck is a PAF Pro.

I just can't seem to be able to embed on the iPad, please bear over with me :)
And sorry bout the accent :D

That sounds a lot more like Marshall mids, growl and crunch than some of the other clips I've heard. V30s in the cab?

Sounds good – thanks for the clip!

Funny you post this, because I was actually thinking about the RD45 head just two days ago, price point is good and the tone is convincing for sure. How are you liking this? Sounds nice dude !
Thanks, man :)
I like it a lot, versatile enough, and seems solid.

The 45 has another power amp, but the preamp is the same, according to Mike.
You can swap in most any kind of power tube, within similar specs.
It was delivered with E34Ls, but I swapped them for 6L6s. I love it, I only wish I was good enough with woodwork to build a headshell for it :)

It has crazy mids :) I had it at maybe 2 :D
The combo has a 150 watt Black Shadow speaker, and the cab 2 MC90s and 2 GT12 75s.
It is Marshally, but with more gain. It is bass light, but it has enough low end for metal. It's not a Herbert, though :D

Thanks for checking it out. I wish I was able to make a real clip, but I don't have any means of recording.

Very tight to my ears. It's not a bass heavy amp, the bass knob is maxed out always, and it's just enough, but not earthshaking. I believe that might be the reason for the tightness as well. And as usual, it gets tighter the more you turn it up. I haven't been able to really open 'er up, so I can only imagine it getting tighter when you're closing in on 5-6 on the master :D

I also have a pretty tight cab, of course :)

I like the 1960 cabs. Hundreds pf thousand stages and screaming fans can't be wrong :)
And the RDs are definitely affordable amps, without looking or seeming "cheap" in any way but the fonts and Devil's head :D I can live with that, hehehe

Crazy Accent!

Sounds good Knut, does it need the TS in front? I think if it were me, Id probaby need it or a Bad Monkey or something similar. The playing isnt bad either ;) Sounds like a Dokken type tone.

I hear ya.. US made ?

No, it's China made. It was VERY affordable, because of the new, revamped models. If it was US made, you could probably triple the price, at least.

:D I sound like Yingwie Mælmsteen!

It most definitely doesn't need the TS, it has more than enough whomp on its own. I just like the hi-mid hump that the TS gives :) It gets a little like the Stryper "kerang" in the attack, which I love :)
I agree about the tone, I think the passives in this Guitar makes it sound pretty different from the EMGs in some of the other guitars, leaning more towards the 80's kinda sound :) Thanks for checking it out.

I think a lot of this sound has to do with that pickup (low bass and lots of treble). I have an rd100h and its not Marshall flavored at all. It also has plenty of bass. Its a very modern voiced amp.

Very possible :)
My other main guitars have EMG 81s, and one has an 85 in the bridge.
The one with the 85 sounds very fat, but it's a custom shop Washburn from the Grover Jackson era. That's probably the guitar that makes it sound most like you describe.

FWIW, Mike told me that they tweaked the new model (like yours), so they have much more low end than the first generation. The preamp is more or less the same, but the power amp is different. Mike gave me a pointer on how to get more low end from mine, I only have to muster the courage to solder a cap to a resistor, or have a buddy help me :)

I forgot to mention that I didn't change any eq settings. It is set to acommodate the od channel. It's quite possible that you can make the clean channel spankier if need be, but then get a little icepicky on the od.
