Anyone own both of these? Can you give some comparisons?

I'm looking at getting another one of the studio series- previously had the plexi, now looking at the JCM800, and the Wangs came up on my radar. Look incredibly well made, and the price is right. Any reason to not consider these?

Nevermind, just bought the studio series JCM 800 :poop:
I just ordered a JCM800 2204HW from Ceriatone. $1445 to my door with custom headshell and upgraded FX loop. The SC20 was a cool amp when I had one, but it still sounded "small".. Big tubes are great, but you need the big iron to go with it, or you're just left unsatisfied, IMO.

Now, my Friedman PT-20 V2 on the other hand, smoked the SC20. It's EL84's and somewhat bigger iron. It's a beefy little amp, and sounded better than the Marshall, hands down.

I have a Vh4 as well, but I really miss that raw early Marshall thing. I got this one at a solid price so if it's not for me I'll just move it on. Some of the SC20 demos sound really promising though. And I thought the SV20 was absolutely killer when I had it, coming from owning actual vintage Marshalls as well as a plexi. I mean nothing's going to move air like that, but this is strictly for recording so I'd just be cutting a lot of the low end out anyway. The PT-20 definitely crossed my radar as well.

Put a DS-1 or your fave boost in front of the SC20 though and see how you like it.

The ceriatone 2204 is hard to beat. I just finished a 2204 build and I think I did a pretty good job until I look at a their work. I would also go with them instead of a wangs or even the jet city 800. They both have a couple things in their builds I didn't like. I know I'm being picky but still.

I've always wondered how those would do with 6550's or KT88's. Can they even take those?

If not, 6CA7's.

I’ve been down a rabbit hole today on Ceriatone. They have some really nice offerings. Damn I wish I could get several. One good example each of Fender, Hiwatt and JTM Marshall. Or even the Supergroup they do. The JTM all access and JTM46 really have my attention but the reverb and clean tones on the Tut’s is super nice when you already have the Marshall sound up the wahzoo already.

They have many good offerings. I've had a Yeti.. The build quality was a work of art.

I think @Guitarjon has a hand wired Wangs amp in his collection. He may be able to cime in on how it compares.

The Wangs are amazing! Definitely much louder than the Marshall Studio amps and a more thick tone in general.

These guys jack their prices on this amp?? Seems like it has almost doubled.. at that rate I'd sooner go Ceriatone

Odd that they have an As-Is price then $200 more for a 12 month warranty. What kind of company makes you pay extra for a standard warranty? That would seriously have me questioning the quality.

You're right, for an extra few dollars Ceriatone all the way over Wangs.

That’s really weird. Makes them a hard no for me with that kind of business model…but I’ve got all the Wang I can handle right now anyway.
