Looking for an acoustic.

Much prefer something with a managable body size, but I want something that sounds nice and full.

Also prefer something with pretty good access to at least the 15th fret.

Do not want anything with rounded back.

Any suggestions you can provide are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have a Taylor that I love, but lately have been more impressed with 2 Larrivee's that I got, 1 six string and 1 twelve string, they stay in tune, play really well and have a really sweet, balanced tone. The 12 string is the best playing 12 I've ever played. The electronics in them work very well too for live stuff. There is a lot of great stuff out there at the moment, look at a bunch of them ;)

Taylor 416, Martin makes some good stuff for under a grand with a decent preamp, and Laravee are built like a brick sh@t house.
Stay away from Gibsons unless you get a good deal. I had two, now down to one, not impressed for what I paid.
How much you want to spend?

Breedlove also makes great sounding and affordable guitars, and they make very exspensive one too!!

I would hit a Guitar Center and play a shit load of 'em. Figure out what you like and then buy a local used model if you can. Toys are getting dirt cheap these days.

I have an old Alvarez campfire beater and Taylor Grand Auditorium with a LR Baggs I Beam/Element I-Mix in it. Best thing I ever did was to keep my old beater acoustic to keep the 'rough miles' off my good one.

I know a violin player, says that the difference between a fiddle and a violin is that you don't mind spilling beer on your fiddle....

love my Breedlove...very full sounding and pretty good fret access...and I got it for a very nice price!

Thanks for the info guys!

Should have put a budget in here.

Would like to find something well under a grand if possible.

Also....electronics are not needed. THis will be home use only.

If you're not looking to go for the gusto on an insanely well built, worth every penny of the thousands it's worth Acoustic, as well as the fact that you wouldn't know why the he'll it cost so damn much if you had one in your hand... Hit your local music shop and try out all their mediocre lines, i've done the same thing at a shop by my place and I've found that yamahas have great 'bang for buck' factor. I'd stay away from most fenders, but that's just me and a few bad experiences.

Comparison videos between MIC Blueridge and MIA Martins.

That being said, you should be able to score a Martin for under a grand in the US :)

Best deal going for years on an acoustic IMHO are the seagull/simon patrick luthier acoustics. I believe they are the same company, I have a S&P 12 string and it's a good guitar regardless of $ spent. Every seagull I've played has been really nice too, and they are crazy cheap (made in canada, I believe Godin owns em or is involved somehow).

If you're into the USA stuff I have a nice Guild that I bought used for around $500 - they can be found cheap and are a great value. Taylors are generally nice, but if I was looking for a decent around the house guitar I wouldn't spend that much, but that's just me.
