Fal does run nice, a friend used to have one. Fun to shoot, for sure. But, for full sized battle rifles, the M1a is still my favorite.

I've never had one. I've had every other battle rifle though, including m1a's. I absolutely lust after the m1a carbines like the socom etc.....I'm told the fal utilizes a tipping block action which is the same type as the sks-which is a super reliable action.

You can get short barreled anything if you are willing to pay the SOT.

That ELCAN sight would have been great on your current 308. They are a little bulky, but the lever reticle actuator works really well.
He can run the piss out of a gun!
