I really want a new Explorer and since I live in BFE it is impossible to try before I buy. Anyone have any recommendations on models? I like the look of the new Traditional Pro, and I like the idea of a 57 BB3 pickup combo. Anyone tried one? I don't have strong opinions agaist non Gibson explorers, but some of them are just plain ugly. I'm heading to Vegas next week so hopefully I can find a shop with something to try. Damn you small towns and your willingness to only carry MIM Fenders and cheap Ibanez hollowbodies.

I already have a 2008 standard Explorer, but I have a hole in my pocket and Explorer GAS bad.

And by new, I mean new or new to me. The used market in my area is shit and I'm really tired of eBay (which is also shit).

hard to find but I would look for an explorer pro. Little smaller, but with aldrich's mine sounds incredible!

I've got one of the new ones with the Floyd Rose on it, i'm still fighting the crappy floyd, but the newer Plek'd necks are better than my older Explorer. Also liking the Ebony board better.

Play everything you can get your hands on in Vegas and see what you think.

My next Explorer shape will most likely be the ESP LTD Snakebyte.

Don't forget this the 15 to 20% off season, so try get that much off if you find something you like.

Used Hamer Standard would be killer, and the Japan only Edwards or ESP Explorers would be cool.

Old lawsuit Ibanez Destroyer, or a Greco.

Step A. Swing by a casino when in Vegas.
Step B. Win a wheelbarrow full of ca$h
Step C. Order a Ken Lawrence Explorer

J/K, good luck at finding one you like.

Thanks for the tips. I'm trying to find the sales, but everything I've seen excludes anything I have an interest in.

Sounds like the best plan to me

or get an Edwards..... get mine :D

$750

If I can't find one I can actually touch, I might take you up on that.

How much $$$ do you have to spend? I'm about to sell my 84.

If you can ever run up on a Ken Lawrence Explorer and happen to have to the dough, you will not regret it. Had mine for a month or so now and it is about the only guitar I play anymore, except for gigs and the need for alternate tunings. And, I am living in the real BFE!

I was looking to not spend more than a new one so around $1500, but as everyone knows that number changes daily.

Man I wish I would run up on one of those, but I doubt I will ever see one face to face in my neighborhood. That thing is sweet!

Wow, nice - I see you have the Het Set in there. I think I'm replacing the EMGs in my red KL with those, the clips sound great so far!

The Thunderhorse looks pretty sweet and it's out of limited production now. I played one at my local shop today. Throw some black hardware and EMG's on that thing and it would be kickass.

I like them a lot. They stay together better on top than the other EMG's and have a better crunch and thump as well. Sort of an active PAF on steroids.

Get one with the 3 way switch near the knobs instead of out ther on the horn.
