Warmoth Neck or refret?

I have a MIM 50's reissue strat. I have had it for about 10 years and I plan to make a frankenstrat out of it. Planned changes are

1) New pickguard with some graphics

2) SD Hot rails in bridge. Rewired to give me a tone control on bridge pup. Already has a rio grande in neck and RWRP middle pup

3) New neck from warmoth or I will refret this neck. The frets are showing some wear and I would also like bigger frets like a 6105. Quote to refret is $355 which may be a little steep but I know for sure this guy is good. I can get a 22 fret neck from warmoth for about $305. I like the nitrocellulose clear coat on the neck which is what drew me too the 50's reissues years ago when I bought the guitar but I would like to get the extra fret (21 frets on the existing neck) and I can get a compound radius on the warmoth neck.

What do recommend? Has anyone replaced an MIM 50's reissue neck with a warmoth neck? Any trouble with fit? Would you just keep a neck that you know plays and looks good and just get the refret done?

Can't go wrong with the Warmoth. Spec it the way you want it.

ive been hit or miss with warmoth necks, i tend to like musikcraft necks better for maple - warmoth has the other woods under control though. ive had bad experiences with green wood not cured anywhere near long enough. TIFWIW.

I'd also go with the Warmoth. I had one on a strat and loved it plus you can spec it out how you want.

That price seems on the higher side but if he is trust and does great work the price would be worth it.

Going against the grain and say refret, you spent 10 years wearing that neck the way you play and bet it feels really good.

That is a little spendy. I've have 4 Warmoth necks 3 great and 1 really bad, I returned it and ate the cost of the frets, I ordered SS frets and they wouldn't refund that to me so I have not and will not use them again.

fuck warmoth bunch of douchey mormans and thats not a lie either

I'm eyeing a rosewood/ebony or rosewood/rosewood neck with jumbo SS frets.

The neck on this one is warped to hell, but it's a fat sounding guitar that should be used.

Thanks for all the good replies. I'm in NC so Luxxtone is not an option for me. Still debating. The neck I have does feel really good and cheesy as it is, I like the aesthetics of it. Not sure if a warmoth nitrocellulose would look the same. Still, wish I head 22 frets and it would be a little cheaper to go the warmoth route.

I'm waiting for a new guitar to come in first before I start in on this one so I've got a little time to decide. May do the coin toss thing :dunno:

Call Tommy at USA Custom Guitar, easily the best Fender necks anywhere.

If you change the neck the tone will change. Maybe for the better but maybe for the worse. So if you like the guitar as-is, I would say refret. But shop around for a better price.

This is a valid point, but I would say if you "love" the neck. The mere fact that you even started this thread leads me to believe that this isn't the case. I have had great luck with Warmoth, Jamerson and Musickraft...the latter two are really the same company. I even have a really nice Allparts neck. You can find some dudes on ebay and whatnot that will rework Allparts necks and make them quite nice. That said, I would stick with either of the first 3 and custom order it to your specs.
