These things always go on sale, but the few I have bought, I have no idea where they have gone when I look at waves installer. I tried copying my VST folder and bringing it over to my laptop and of course they don't load or I can't see them. So I download the installer and there are the last two I bought on a sale a few years back and nothing from before. Is waves in the habit of just discontinuing purchases after a few years or charging for new versions so that you pay full price for the upgrade? So they just delete it from your licenses cloud? No wonder I am trying to move towards more hardware, total pain in the ass AND a bit of a ripoff really.

This is honestly where software can blow when you compare it to hardware.

Waves will never delete any of your licences.

One of the reasons many like Waves is that it guarantees operation ad infinitum.

One of the reasons many hate Waves is that in order to make this guarantee, one has to renew one's WUP periodically. The minimum you can get away with might be every 2 or 3 major updates, but if you're always running the latest or nearly-latest computer hardware, timing your WUP updates to coincide with incompatibilities makes sense.

Case in point: Moving from Intel to Apple Silicon. My guess is a WUP renewal will be necessary.

The reason you see dudes running Waves plugins from 20 years ago is 'cause you still can. I can't think of any other plugin company that fulfils such a promise of ongoing support. It comes at a price, but credit where it's due I reckon.

HTH mate.
