Just curious who has tried both in the same guitar (or compared either to a Darkburst). I REALLY like the Godwood bridge and Darkburst neck I have so far in my R9, and am thinking of ordering more for my other guitars. Anyone try these in a Strat? Jim recommended the Darkburst for the Strat bridge. Has anyone tried this?

Godwood is the fattest sounding pickup I've heard, that's still in PAF territory. I think it would be great in a brighter strat. WCRs split well too if you're into that. Crossroads would be better in a fatter sounding strat, but I'd take the Darburst over the Crossroads in the bridge in that case.

darkburst is slightly tighter and less scooped , and a hair less hot than godwood.

crossroads work great in the neck position for either.

I have the Godwood in my Les Paul's bridge position and IMHO, it is the best sounding pickup I've ever played. I still want to try the D. Burst and was going to throw it in my Neck but I bought a used Sheptone P.A.F. off of a customer of mine after I did a rewire to his PRS. I really want to do a Crossroads set in my next guitar though.

Anybody try the Darkburst and love it?

Any of the 3 is a win as they are all incredible pickups. I like the Darkburst the best with the Godwood a close 2nd. As fuzzyguitars said DB is a little tighter. I'm going with what they sounded like in a PRS not LP.

I tried my Darkburst neck in the bridge tonight. Compared with the Crossroads bridge, Jim said the Darkburst neck is "VERY close, almost the same pickup."

I have to say, I REALLY like it! Can't put into words how to describe it, but it's a fantastic sound. Not the sound I'm going for with my Les Paul, but I'll definitely find some use for it somewhere. Maybe slightly softer than the Godwood in its attack? Definitely more highs, it seems, but not in any way harsh.

My strings are due for replacement though. I think tomorrow I'll throw a new set on and have a fair comparison. I think I'll end up with the Godwood in the Les Paul - as it was before - and either a Darkburst or Crossroads in a Strat I'm hoping to soon buy.

Not sure what to do with the Les Paul neck though. The Darkburst is a nice tone, but a little too much for me, even with a Godwood in the bridge. Maybe the American Steel set? Right now I've got an Abraxas neck (slightly overwound Mule) that I really like. I guess I could just leave that.

Suppose I'd be lying if I said the tone chase wasn't almost as fun as actually playing....

crossroads neck is a little clearer and less grunt than darkburst neck.

the neck on wcrs are all about the same output but voiced a little diffrerently.

i think he makes a bonamassa set which is a crossroads neck with a little hotter and a godwood bridge wound a little less hot.

his "more or less" set if you will.
