I have tried over 20 pickups in my 2003 LP and ended back with Burstbucker Pros. I even used a 2002 Goodwood and Crossroads and I remember liking it but ended up back with the BB Pros. In the end, I find pickups don't make a huge difference, mist of the tone comes from the guitar, amp and speakers plus your fingers.
I told my buddy I will give it one more try, a 2003 WCR Goodwood....but something tells me that I will be back to stock Burstbuckers before long. My 8 other electrics are all stock after going through hundreds of pickups through the years.

If you didn't like them before , why now? Did spec change from 03 to 03 ?

Why not??????????????????

Been many years since I played one, was more of a metal head at the time, I used digital amps at the time. I liked it fine, just not enough to keep me from trying others. Like I said, totally different time of my life! Different player and gear!!!

Yeah , I get u on that. My tastes have somewhat changed over the yrs also, not to mention using them with a different setup than yrs ago. Never tried wcr stuff but would like to try. Currently experimenting with different bridge hums in my lp also. Still looking.

Shaw paf which was nice but just needed a bit more output and it started to get noisy , then a Seymour custom custom which was not bad but seemed a little to muddy or not crisp enough. Just recently installed a motor city blister bucker that I bought a while back and never used, so far it's a great pickup. I would like to try a dirty fingers next maybe in my other guitar.

O of the very pickups I can remember is the WCR Shredder, it is like a better Duncan JB, ultra versatile and a joy to solo on! I am having Jim make me one with a nickel cover! :)

The original Goodwood was like 9.4 or 9.5K, the current Godwood is 10K. Jim is basically releasing the original GW,

Also ordering a Shredder from Jim, an Iron Man for my PRS and Crossroads or Darkburst for my SG. Goodwood for my McCarty.

Got the Goodwood installed but I prefer the Duncan 59/Custom hybrid, better clarity and bigger sounding.

After more play time, the GW is kicking some butt! Reminds me more of a custom shop Duncan Brobucker. Worth the money? Hard to say. In a band setting, I doubt you could determine which pickup you were using!

I had been thru a ton of bridge pickups for my Les Paul (JB, Suhr Custom Wound, Burstbucker Pro, BBQ Bucker, Aldrich).

I have the Aldrich in there now, and it's pretty good. I loved the BBQ Bucker too.

Is it just me or is the Burstbucker Pro harsh and trebly? I was planning on swapping them for handwound pickups in my LP Standard...just curious what an improvement it would be...

Just got back from practice. The WCR 9.4K Cherrybucker Goodwood really woke up this LP along with the 500K pot. More life, presence, feel, articulation and tone. I felt a better connection to the instrument. I will be doing business with Jim going forward. I am now a WCR man, for sure. Holy cow this rocks. It felt like the guitar had so much more life in my hands, hard to esplain, it was a real eye opeer, made me play better! Will do anything from Cream to Van Halen to Metallica.

Any thoghts guys on a hot neck pickup, like 8.5? Maybe Rio Texas?

Not sure you'd need to go hot unless you really need it. The WCR American Steele set is made up from a Godwood bridge and a Crossroads neck pup - may be try that? I've got that pairin and it's an awesome combo.

Well Jim Wagner who makes the pickups said the neck pickup should be 8.5k at least.
WCR and Rio Grande pickups sound so big and dynamic, you can't use Duncans with them. Will have to be a used Rio Grande Texas
or Buffalo bucker. I think even a Gibson BB Pro neck works with it. Keep in mind I almost NEVER use the neck
pickup so it is only there for show and the rare occasion it gets uses so cheap is good!

Do you find the Goodwood at all wooly or fuzzy with gain? That is what I heard in the big pickup shoot out clips, James Lugo did a few years ago.

Wool or fuzzy? No frickin way, tight, clear, big, wide, fat, beautifuL!
