We had another San Antonio Mini Ampfest today. Lot's of killer amps. The Chupas were my favorites.....

Not sure if someone shot an iPhone video or not. I didn't. There was definitely plenty of beer on the other side of the room though. It was a NKD....New Keg Day.

How did the Cali hold up to the CCV?

At this level, it's all subjective and what fits your personal taste. I love the CCV. The Cali sounds really good too. The CCV just sounds more present and up front to my ears. After playing the JVM (with Mercury OT and Choke) and the CCV, the Cali seems a little dark and a little congested sounding. Of course, after playing my CCV, I don't like the way my Nitro sounds, but if I play that amp first, I love it. The JVM with the upgrades was pretty killer too, though had a little more hair on it compared to the Cali and CCV. I would definitely love to have a JVM with the upgrades after hearing that one. I was never really impressed with the stock JVM. We played all the amps through a Mills with Scumback H55/H75 (large dust cap) speakers. Having that cab next to my v30/gk100 and v30 Mills cabs is going to cost me alot of money in new speakers.

The Axe FX sounded pretty killer too. It had been updated to the latest software. I think it sounded better than the 5150 it was modeling. Makes me want to get another Axe and get Warhead78 to show me how he dials in his patches. We used a solid state power amp too.

The Fortin modded Marshall clips usually have a very dark sound as well. The Bones however sound a lot brighter and present in all of the clips I've heard. Does this hold true in person?
