Weber 1230 for Peavey Classic 30

My buddy is looking for a g12H30 style speaker for his peavey Classic 30. I am to blame as he tried his C30 through my Vox 212 cab with 2 Anni G12H30's.

With Celestion's recent price increase (hellatone 30 too) he is considering the weber 1230 75Hz cone, 16ohm pre-rola dope (all webers are 15% off right now).

Does anyone have any experience with the Weber 1230's especially as compared to the Celestion Anni G12H30's?


The Heritage G12H30's and Scumback H75's are out of his price range.

I love my Weber 1225's and I'm about to pick up a 55hz 1230 as well. I hear the 1230's are darker than the G12H Anny's................which would put them more akin to the Heritage G12H's.

Any particular reason you are going with the 55Hz 1230's over the 75Hz cones? Are you going with the pre-rola doping?

Sorry, I don't have any insight on the Webers, but I've got a Hellatone 30 in my C30 and it sounds great. Possibly pick up a cheap used G12H30 or Hellatone on evil-bay?

I have both Weber Blue Dogs and Silver Bells 75-watters...with pre-rola doping that I use in a Egnater Mod50 1x12 combo and a 1x12 extension cabinet.

I couldn't be happier. They are the ceramic magnets. Very punchy, defined, warm, and have tons of clarity!

I'm going to put it in a 1x12 cab to use with a low watt head.......so I'm thinking I might squeeze a bit more low end out of the 55hz. I didn't get any doping at all on my 1225's. Ted recommended this since I only play at low/medium volumes.

Strangely I have not seen mean used 16ohm Anni G12H30's or Helltone 30s around on the forums or ebay. One I saw recently on the gear page, the guy wanted $100, might was well get a new Hellatone at $99 for that.
