Hey guys, I recently purchased Weber's Bias Rite BR-4. The unit came with instructions but they are piss-poor and the internet has crap-all to offer.

So, here's where i turn it over to you Knowledgeable gentleman.

If any of you guys have one and can give us a step by step breakdown on how to use it, all the voltage info and bias points, that would be greatly appreciated. Also, can you make the amp tighter by biasing hotter or colder?

Instructions are on their website, and I allways open their website every time to use the bias calculator that's linked by the instructions.

Hopefully the bias calculator is what you need help with?

Basically you hook it up and follow their instructions. With the amp off standby and warmed up, you'll run through the A,B,C,D with it set to IK and VP to get your idle current and plate voltage.

Their calculator will tell you how to set to 70% for your given tube type and plate voltage. I usually type in the average voltage of the abcd, and then it will tell you how many ma to adjust your amp to. 70% is a little hot, so if it tells me to set it to 39ma, I might set it to 38 or 37.

Colder or lower ma should be tighter, but I usually like the hotter better.

Don't think they mention it, but most people say to turn your master volume down when checking the bias off standby. Right or wrong, I usually have the master turned up just barely.

Guess you know to have the amp hooked up to the speaker cab while biasing?

Thanks for the reply Cap :salute:

Got the text Matt

I wasn't really comfortable with what i found on the net. I know its a relatively simple and basic thing to do i just dont wanna fuck it up cause you could you know, potentially die lol... :aww:
