We have been in Osaka for the past week on tour and I found out that the ESP Custom Shop was located here. I went to check it out and it was pretty cool. You can pick out the wood you want and they will make you pretty much anything you can think of. I saw some pretty cool custom pieces there. Here are few pics:

That colorful piece of wood in the bottom of the pic is a custom fretboard:

They also had a Gibson Sykes LPC...for only about $5900:

Very cool! I'll be in Osaka on May 26th. I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to go there, but I'll try to see if I can visit the ESP Custom Shop for a few minutes.

Man when that EXP metallica freak sees that explorer he will be in the hole for a shitload

Very cool pics Jason!

There are ESP Custom Shops all over Japan. Make sure to go to the ones in Tokyo, they're even better and there is a store near one of them that has the extremely high end and one of a kind ESPs.

This one was full of super high end and one of a kind ESPs, I just didn't get pics of them...I picked one up and the shop guy almost ninja'd my ass to the ground.

Haha that would have been great to see. So it looks like I'll be leaving Seoul about 3 days before you get there. I'm trying to find some good guitar shops to check out but it seems like there is only one small area with cheap stuff.

Pretty cool. Ive got a guitar to be delivered tomorrow that might have been built there.

I heard the ESP Technical House is the best of the ESP custom shops.

The prefix of the serial is an indicator of what shop it was made at. ESP USA is not very specific on where the customs come from now. The ESP standard series and signature series is made in Jixi China then finished/painted in Japan to keep costs down.

I hope the USA custom orders are not being produced in Jixi China then finished in Japan.

Ron Thorn still does a lot of work for ESP.

Remember Hetfield's Wolf to man EXP? That's Ron's work.

I was just commenting that this is the most disappointing attempt at an inlay 18 months later, Its clearly a sticker under clearcoat... It was supposed to be JUST the logo.. not a giant white box.
